I bought this suction cup so I could have my hand held shower head at easy reach while sitting on a shower stool. And I'm am VERY HAPPY with this purchase!! It holds very strongly and does not look or feel cheap. Came in a nice little box too - well protected during shipping and good enough for gift giving.
The suction cup is amazingly strong. But they also give you a round 3M sticky disk (tape) just in case you don't want to use the suction cup or if your surface won't let you use the suction cup (see photos). I've used 3M products before and the glue on their tape is very strong, so I would think the tape they give you would be just as good, if I needed it.
YOU GET BOTH - SUCTION & STICKY DISK
Try the suction cup first. Best on fiberglass, smooth glass, smooth wood or smooth tiles.
You'll probably need the sticky disk tape on frosted glass, rough wood, or textured tiles. Just make sure you clean the surface first, with alcohol to make sure the surface is very clean (and dry) before using the stick disk tape.
I used this on a fiberglass tub enclosure (see photos). The suction cup stuck to it immediately, and strong, even before I engaged the lever that's suppose to make it suck onto the surface. I almost couldn't get it off (to move it) but then I broke the suction seal easily just by pushing on the suction cup from the side, slightly, with the blunt end of a butter knife. Easy peasy!
And, the handle has a slight cone shape to the inside, so it easily holds both cone shaped and cylindrical shaped shower heads.
This is the shower head I used it with:
Delta Faucet 75700 Universal Showering Components 7-Setting Handheld Showerhead, Chrome
And just in case you're interested, I replaced the plastic shower hose with this stainless one:

The one that came with my shower hear broke. It replaced it with this one and wish I had done that years ago! This holder is so great! It sticks like glue to my shower wall which my old one never did, and the up and down adjustment makes the holder genius! My 6'1" boyfriend can keep it upright and I (5'8") can angle it, so the stray is now perfect for both of us.

The suction on this is no joke. I cleaned an area and was trying to position it but put it to close to the tile and it stuck on and wouldn't come off. Luckily it was close enough to where I needed it and I just left it there. I used this to position a shower head for my young kids. You should know that you can't adjust the angle so if your shower head isn't the right angle then you're out of luck.
