Trim tape ISN'T thin

I wanted to love this products but it just didn't work for me. The adhesive and material of the trim tape is great. It's just to thick for what I needed.
I was trying to create that outline look but when I receive the product I quickly released it would take well over $100 worth of product to achieve this look. I also would have to cut the trim in half to get it to the right width I need.
I went to dollar tree instead and got $10 worth of the generic brand of duct tape to achieve the look I wanted. I provide pictures above so you can see what I mean with I say it was to thick and had to cut the strips in half.
I will be returning the other unopened roll.

I tested a bunch of black border strips before committing to this one. Most of them had questionable stickiness, so I was worries they would eventually fall off. These however are so sticky they will pull off paint if you remove them (I guess that would be a bad thing if you just only want them temporarily, but I wanted something that wouldn't come lose over time). They also have a nice textured look that no other sample I tried had.

I was looking for a tape that I could use to "hide" a crack in my bathroom sheetrock. This was perfect, though I wished the width was 2.5 inches instead of 4, but once up it looks great. It has been up for almost a month and no problems what so ever with it coming lose.
