I bought this for my husband who has taken up forging/knife making. He has mentioned several times that he would like options without having to purchase massive pieces of wood, so I got to shopping around. The variety was wonderful, the sizes once it arrived are perfect, there are many different options in the box but all of them will be useable. My husband was so excited he almost forgot he had others gifts.

Shipping is very high but it is a good value for the wood itself. The Mahogany that came with it is like Balsa Wood.

As a Knife Maker who only uses high end woods for handles I'm always seeking Quality and Variety.
Cut Off and Sample Packs are a way to Try to obtain those - a method that is normally very disappointing.

I saw this box though and calculated that for the weight it wasn't actually a bad deal, pretty good, even when shipping was considered - roughly the Weight of 3 of the boxes from the 'other guys' at basically the price of two.

So I ordered.
Contacted Diamond with some questions and got Fast, Excellent customer service from Kevin.
Then I waited - but not long - the package got here quickly.
When I went to open it I found it was basically double boxed and, on top of that, the wood inside was bound.
Packing way beyond anything else I've seen.

Then I got to the wood itself.
I wasn't merely 'happy' or 'satisfied' - I was Blown Away. Each type of woos was labeled on one side...with measurements on the other side. There were no thin or small pieces. The quality of each wood would be 'Good' to 'Outstanding'. Several pieces would stand out as ones I would have been happy to purchase as individual pieces.
And the variety...well...
A large piece of highly figured Mango.
Several decent pieces of Monkey Pod - one Good, One Very Good.
Three Very Nice pieces of a variety of Coyote Wood with excellent figuring.
Several pieces of Teak. One good and one that was absolutely Top Of The Line.
Nice piece of Indian Rosewood.
Good piece of Tigerwood.
Several nice pieces of Spanish Cedar.
A splendid piece of one of the Mahogany's.
A wood called Ceiba that has some nice spalting.
I'm probably missing some...
Thing is, these aren't scraps or small cut offs - every single piece is usable for Multiple Knife handles and, while they say 25 lbs - package was 27.
No complaints there!

So they've impressed the heck out of me and now have my future business.
Don't let the shipping worry you - do the math!
Also, this Is a US Based company, so you don't have to worry about International Shipping.

I have not a single complaint and view this as one of the best purchases and deals for my business ever, in regards to woods. Will probably pay for itself 10 times over.
