good toy set

This toy was a huge success with the kids, and entertained them for some time. No complaints on this one.
No interest in the toy...

I keep a treasure chest of toys in the sunroom for my grandchildren to play with when they are here. When a new toy comes in they are usually very excited but not this time. My 10 year old grandson just wasn't excited about this toy. I asked him why and he said there just isn't enough action. I had no problem putting it together. It worked fine. It just wasn't his thing.
Not worth it - Not enough "action"

This game is Made in Vietnam. It must be assembled. It shows that it's for ages 8 and up. Some adult assistance may be needed to construct the set for some younger players.

There is not enough action going on with this game. Often the tops just spin in the middle, where you can't reach them. Moving the "stadium" from side-to-side can help. This game is for two players. The "stadium is made from super thin plastic.

At the current price of fifty bucks. . .it's so crazy expensive for plastic Made in Vietnam that it's beyond not worth it.
Better Than Old Beyblade

This review is largely the result of feedback from my 13 y.o. son, who was once really into the original Beyblade line. In his opinion, nearly everything about this set is an improvement over the original Beyblade. His favorite element is the "burst", the way the tops are engineered to come apart after a certain amount of hits. He literally used to loosen the components of his old Beyblades to try and achieve such bursting, so this is perfect for his tastes. He is also a fan of the new launcher design, which allows him to launch two tops at once. [As a parent I am also fond of this, as it means fewer times he's asking me to spin a top for him.] he says he is a fan of the redesign overall.

The things he didn't like (and he made sure I'd mention these in this review) include: (1) the plastic cover over the stadium, and (2) the stadium weapons. The plastic cover makes launching the tops more difficult; if you do not hold the top down into the hole, it can launch cockeyed and hit the rim or fly off the roof. Also, the plastic cover doesn't allow for double-launching. The weapons, he says, are poorly placed and rarely play a part in the battle, as the tops tend to spin around the middle and the weapons are on the extreme of the elongated ends of the field.
) It works great and he really did like it for a bit

Made well and the grandson loves it. He was thrilled when I told him we were getting it to test (he loves testing products I get.) It works great and he really did like it for a bit....then, just as almost every non computerized game, he lost interest. I'm sure he'll play with it in the future because we're trying to pull the computer games away a little at a time. It reminds me of the "Battling Tops" game we had when I was young.
