I buy this annually. I don't generally like to use chemical deterents like this, however after having Lyme I'm not interested in risking tick borne illnesses again. This spray treats four pieces of clothing well and has some left for a pair of socks. Always apply as instructed, keep it out of the water supply, and keep away from cats!
Regarding tick repellent it does actually cause them to drop off. I've watched them pickup from questing onto my pants and drop off within a few seconds. it's odorless to humans, and persists through washings. It's a cannon to kill a mosquito though other repellents just weren't working for me.

I have used this, but cautiously, as I realized after ordering it that you have to be careful with it around cats. I spray my clothing away from the house, and let it dry thoroughly before I get home (where the cats are). It seems to work so far in repelling ticks. I wish I could control the spray head a bit better, though, as the liquid sometimes leaks and I get it on my hands, necessitating a quick run to the hand washing station.

This stuff works! I tested it by finding a tick and putting it on a treated surface. The tick rapidly declined, tho it was more than 30 seconds. The best way to use this is to treat clothing. When you come home, put that clothing in a bag and put it away till you need it again for gardening, birding, hunting, etc. These clothing treatments will last a good while. I only use them when I am pretty sure ticks will be around and crawling on me. I have also treated a pair of tall rubber rain boots because most ticks climb up your legs, so this method puts and end to that conduit. THE DOWN SIDE is the spray nozzle SUCKS and squirts a heavy stream which drips everywhere. TO solve this I put some in a bottle with a better nozzle, one that emits a finer spray to cover more surface with less Permethrin, and doesn't drip everywhere.

We live in NE PA and the ticks are HORRIBLE this year. Every time my husband would go out in the back yard or near our woods - he always came back with ticks. He's used this twice this year and NO ticks! Would highly recommend it. Not for use on animals - just your shoes and clothing.

Hard to say whether it works excellent vs. good enough, but the convenience of spraying clothes once before a mission trip and worrying less about having a Deet based spray with you when you come across mosquitoes is why I like it. Also, there is some concern about absorbing the Deet and it's just a tad sticky. It is key to spray and let clothes dry at least overnight, better yet 24-48 hours (smells like gasoline) but the smell does amazingly vanish and is not an issue after drying.
