Very nice little sewing kit

This little kit is very cute. The instructions were good. Each animal project came in an individual package with everything needed to make the animal. There are plastic needles in each package so if you are working with more than one child, each will have its own needle. My 6 and 10 yr old granddaughters can easily do the projects. Both girls really enjoyed sewing the little animals. I am an experienced sewer and wanted something to just give my girls a taste of sewing and that it did. It is basic but you do have to start at the beginning. It came with plastic needles, as I mentioned, but I gave the older girl a real needle and the younger girl the plastic one, both needles work well. Happy sewing!

My 11 yo son just loved this. He enjoyed being able to complete these mostly on his own with the use of the precut holes. I helped him lining up the sides as a few are not symmetrical cut needle holes, and with starting and ending knots. They provide plenty of string, glue and stuffing to create well stuffed critters. The material is felt so can be torn and stretched thin if not careful. That said my son does sleep with and play with these and they are holding up. I plan on getting him the other sets to add to his collection and continue to practice his sewing skills.

My daughter, being near 8 now wants to sew. I've been hearing, "Mommy let me sew something" for 2 months now. I get her this for her birthday and crack it open for her. After she eagerly awaits sewing but impatiently keeps asking, "Can I sew now?", I read the instructions and let her begin. All I now know is this: she's sewed one of the animals after thoroughly frustrating herself sewing knots and tangles for a good 90 minutes that I had to constantly fix while she kept complaining about it being too hard. "You just do it mom!" It's super cute and she'll pick it back up again, but it was a bit too much for her motor skills and finger work at this stage of her young life.

I got this for my 4 year old niece and it was perfect. The holes are pre made and the needle is plastic so I don't have to worry about her getting hurt with the needle! She really felt like she was learning to sew and I love that she gets to choose from an assortment of animals. Each one was packaged separately so you don't have to worry about mixing up the pieces. Overall it's a lot of fun for teaching a little someone to sew! I would highly recommend!!
