Good Canned Baked Beans

Be sure to read the volume before buying. This is far smaller than I assumed, possibly two servings per can.
The best

I am very picky about baked beans. I like them to be thick, not sloppy, and they need to taste like my mom's. Bush's are pretty good in that regard, but I first drain (but do not rinse) them until most of the juice is gone (you could freeze and save it for a soup, stew, etc.), then I mix in light brown sugar, molasses, ketchup, finely chopped onion, and a little mustard. (I don't measure these things I add. I just eyeball them.) I put all the ingredients into a large casserole dish, cover, and nuke it on high for 5 minutes, then switch to power level 2 or 3 for about 20 minutes. If you want to heat them faster at a higher power level, nuke the chopped onion separately in a small bowl until it's about half cooked, then add to the other ingredients before they go in the microwave.

Mom used to cook navy beans from scratch, then add other things and bake them for a long time in a bean crock, in a low oven. Using Bush's vegetarian canned baked beans eliminates a heck of a lot of work/time, and I can still get a flavor I remember from my childhood. I use Bush's exclusively because I've tried another brand that doesn't contain any pork product (most do, but I don't eat pig) and/or the end product doesn't come close to tasting like Mom's. If Mom were still here, she'd say Thank you, Bush's.
