I used it to build a simple 3-wire adapter for a serial USB-DB9F cable. It was easy to wire up with the guts separate from the shell and the smallest grommet fit the 24/4 cable just fine. I ended up with a small enclosed adapter that cannot short to adjacent wires. It works perfectly.
