I've used the Soda Siphon 30 times. Twice in the last week when I activated the lever to dispense the seltzer I got a blast of gas and water all over my kitchen. What I found is that the straw that is supposed to deliver the seltzer had been blown out of the gasket at the top of the unit, most likely when I charged it with the CO2 cartridge It is a loose press fit and apparently does not always stay in place when charging the Soda Siphon. Now I don't trust it. I'm outside the 30 return window, so I guess I'm stuck with a device that may or may not work and wastes CO2 cartridges.

Update: Excellent customer service and with their help I'm now having more reliable results. Key is to measure your water to insure there is no more than 1L in the soda siphon. I still get an occasional problem, but that may be the CO2 cartridge and not the soda siphon, so overall it's 4 stars.

It works well. Solid construction. For $30, its worth it. Less than that and its a great value. More than that and you should keep shopping. The charges are whats important value wise but I can find liters of seltzer/club soda for under $0.60 any more.

Working good

I bought the soda siphon instead of one of the home fizzy beverage makers. It's a little less expensive and is a standard mixed drink accessory so I thought it'd be a cost effective way to experience homemade sodas.

I was right.

There aren't many features to discuss. I chose the sold chrome/silver version. Unlike in the picture, the whole appliance is silver. It's sturdy as well as attractive. If I had a wet bar, this would stay on top for decoration. The only possible drawback is that you'll have to discover the right amount of flavoring through mixed drink recipes or trial and error. I put just a little too much cola syrup in the first time for instance. You will also have to purchase 8 gram chargers which come in several brands. There's a cover the charger fits into that you tighten to release the CO2 then a smaller cover for after the charger is removed. But, that's it: The soda siphon along with ever how many boxes of CO2 chargers (sold separately).

I took the advice I read in product reviews and the instructions to get the water (liter/quart) very cold beforehand. It worked perfectly the very first time.

Something inside the trigger mechanism broke. I bought a slightly different product instead of the ICO because I don't want to wait for a replacement right now. I'm so disappointed.

I love making craft cocktails at home. I drink 2 drinks on Friday and Saturday Night only and of course some recipes call for club soda. When I would buy club soda from the supermarket it would go flat in a month or so. When a drink recipe calls for 2 oz of club soda you dont go through it quick enough to use it before it goes flat. This product fixes that problem. I have found that the the pressurized vessel can keep the soda carbonated for several weeks at least so once you make a liter of club soda it can be stored for 2 weeks or more.
