I was reluctant to try this, figuring it was likely unstable and unsafe. But, between its weight/bulk and the rubber pads on the bottom, it proved sturdy and safe. I used it in conjunction with a telescoping ladder to paint a two-story stairway and the job was 10 times easier. It also came in handy when hanging pictures in the stairway.

Purchased this solution to solve the problem of how to safely prop a ladder on stairs to access a 12 foot ceiling. The idea seems good, but a couple of problems meant that it had to go back.
First, the design seems sound but the 4" max width for the ladder foot meant my type 2 Werner ladder didn't fit int the base. The description clearly says 4" max, but I purchased the ladder from a blue big box home improvement store and didn't see a spec for foot dimension, I eyeballed it but it didn't fit. I could of tried it, angling the foot in the tray but the second issue caused me to send it back.
It was shipped UPS, and when it arrived it didn't look beat up. When I opened it the pin had sheared and it was stand was bent. I tried to jam it together and actually set it up, but had visions of the eventual ride to the E.R. if I tried it so it went back.
I can;t blame the manufacturer for the shipping.

Easy to assemble, easy to use. Used it to (safely!) paint the section of my home that is over a flight of stairs, with an extension ladder. This product is brilliant, and appears to be indestructible.
