This water softener has been working perfectly. It was easy to install and setup. If anything goes away, I will update my review. We have well water and are using rust free salt pellets. As of now, the water is soft and our cold water particle count coming out of the tap is 100. This is with just the softener being used. I have also tested the water out of a Brita filtered water pitcher and it read 24. That's phenomenal. They have a great 5 year warranty extension, which we are definitely doing.

The tank is 3/4" taller than the 8 year old kenmore of the exact same model. Had to make up new adapters at about $52. figure to replace the media in the old one and keep it as a spare, then use spacers to get it to line up properly. The plumbing tree that fits into the softener is exactly the same with new o-rings but there are no hook ups to the 1" threaded pipe fittings included like the original Kenmore unit. No feed back yet on operation.

Bought this to replace my 16 yr old Kenmore 280 series softener. Researched other softeners at big box stores and what sold me was that EcoPure is part of Water Channel Partners, LLC...a company that has been in the water softener business since 1925 and had purchased the rights to the reliable Kenmore brand. In fact, the EP31 is nearly identical to the design of my series 280 to the point where installation took all of 10 mins using existing plumbing lines/fittings without modifications. Was even able to insert and reuse the old bypass valve without disconnecting it from the inlet/outlet water lines. Been in service for a week now and our new softener is doing the job just fine.

My only reservation in buying online was the shipping & handling in transit. Softeners are not to be laid down on their side and was hesitant to trust those responsible for delivery to know this. However, it arrived right side up and intact. Watched the guys unload it from the delivery truck and they kept it upright while assuring me it was properly loaded onto the truck as well. Could only hope it was handled correctly from the point of manufacturer, too...but, that would be the case no matter if I picked one up locally. Softener was well packed and supported inside the box, too. All said, I'm very pleased with my decision. Hopefully, it will last another 16 yrs. or more.

Replaced my Kenmore water softener with this one. Only issue is it required a plumber since it was 1/2" higher than the Kenmore unit so the shutoff valve did not match up as expected.
