Although I was kind of disappointed that this edging didn't come with instructions, I found some on the Coyote website that were very helpful. I wanted to use something other than the ugly black plastic edging and this metal looks SO much better. I was able to do a path about 20 feet long and 6 feet wide in a couple hours. I wish I would have left about another inch of the edging above ground, because I'm using it to contain pea gravel on a path. Anyway, after three hours of hard labor, I'm ready for a megadose of Aleve and a nice long nap.

I welded each section together with a 1/4" overlap. Once welded was able to do some really nice curves. Did not use the joiner pieces. Stakes were only needed on the ends.

I went in search of unique edging for a flower bed. I wanted a product I could bend into wavy lines and that would develop a rust patina. I bought 2 sets of these (1 for each side of the yard) and am very happy with it so far (it's been a month or so). Others have tried to say that the steel can't be bent. I've attached photos that prove otherwise. I'm a 50 year old woman and I was able to bend them without too much trouble using my foot. For tighter curves, I put my foot on it and bent around the sole of my shoe. The photos show undulating curves on this side of the yard. The other side (not pictured) had less room for flowers so I made really tight z-shaped bends here and there with a slight wave in between bends. The photos were taken about 3 weeks after installation and the patina has gotten even better since (along with the sod and seed I planted to fill it the gaps!).

It's hard to find good lawn and garden edging at a reasonable price. These raw steel sections and pins are the best I've found. The initial application was to separate a lawn from a new planting area along 50 feet of sloped ground between two homes. I suggest that you add a large rubber mallet to your tool kit to simplify the installation. You'll be positioning sections and tapping the edging into the earth with the mallet as well as using it to drive pins into the earth when joining the sections. What's great about this product is that it is sturdy steel, not aluminum or plastic yet it is pliable enough that you can gently form it to make a curve. This stock begins to rust pretty quickly and it looks good. Another benefit is that is is not painted so gas powered trimmers can be used against it without damaging the finish. I've purchased a third package for another garden project where the steel acts as a barrier to runoff from a slope, providing protection to some new perennials and eliminating an erosion issue. I would have awarded five stars except for the packaging which ripped in transit and allowed the invaluable set of pins to not be delivered. I had to call the company and wait another week to begin my project.

Like the raw steel look, and so much more substantial and better looking than any plastic edging I've tried. My first concern about longevity went away when I saw that the 1/8" thick plastic edging I have now cracked during this last winter (only two years old). I'm assuming they won't rust away for a bunch of years.
