Upgraded the Trackpad on Thinkpad W540 from the factory loud trackpad. This 4 button pad is awesome! On downfall is if you upgrade you Thinkpad, you might loose the middle button function. I have heard you can mess with some drivers to get it to work properly. I just haven't found them yet, but dont regret the upgrade.

Let me just say, if you're looking to upgrade your T440p from the mushy trackpad it comes with you should be VERY happy. I've heard of several issues with the drivers for this trackpad on Windows, though I can't speak to them as I'm running Linux and macOS. This trackpad worked great out of the box on both. The surface of this trackpad is much smoother, the click is much more satisfying, multitouch is less finnicky, and the middle button for trackpoint scrolling is a very nice touch (no pun intended). I knew this would be an upgrade, but wasn't aware how significant it would be. I actually enjoy using this laptop so much more now. If you're on the fence, just go for it. I doubt you'll be disappointed.
Note on shipping: I ordered this unit on October 5 and paid extra for one-day shipping. I didn't receive it in the mail until yesterday, November 22. This was likely an issue with the courier, but the seller did provide me a refund. A+ product and seller.

Finally a proper mouse pad for the t540p. I don't know what the designers were smoking when they decided to put the original, horrible trackpad onto this laptop. Wow. I'm glad that this one is an option. Easy to install and fits perfectly. I went with this one because of the number of reviews that were mostly positive, even though it costs a few dollars more. Others seemed like they had QC issues. Don't hesitate if you don't like the original trackpad.

I was very pleased that this was a direct swap and fully functional in my T440P. The OS immediately recognized the full functionality of the unit, and I have been using it without issue for the past few days. While it was somewhat challenging to install, the process was very straightforward after watching a handful of videos online. This is the model that has the three buttons at the top, and it is an upgrade from the flat trackpad that came stock with the T440P.
