SEE UPDATED REVIEW (Initial Review: Total junk! Worst craftsmanship I’ve ever seen in an Amazon item)
William A Heaton✓ Verified Purchase•April 14, 2018
UPDATE: I'd like to update this review based on Nordic Lifting's outstanding customer service related to this matter. I received a very nice email within hours of the initial review. They apologized and asked for photos so they could contact their supplier with specific issues. I have received a total of three emails from them following up on this. They have advised me that they are sending a free replacement and are working with their manufacturer directly and specifically on this issue. Good job on the customer service front! Now, the product was defective, so I'm not raising the number of stars to 5 - we'll see how the replacements do - but I am giving them 4 stars for outstanding customer service. Good customer service goes a long way with me!
Initial Review: I would give these zero stars if I could. They fell apart and filled shoe with the little pellet weights almost immediately after putting them on. They fell apart literally within minutes of trying them on! Worst craftsmanship I have ever seen from an Amazon item. Returning immediately. I hope they stop selling this junk. This is the first negative review I have ever written about an item purchased on Amazon.
It's kind of hard to tell, but the heel the shoe is filled with the weights/pellets that fell out of the ankle weight. Dissatisfied does not begin to cover it.

comfortable and easy to use

I recently suffered a minor knee injury and my Physical Therapist recommended some ankle weights to put on when I take my walks. I have never used these sort of weights before, so I relied solely on the reviews posted here to purchase these. These are very easy to put on and take off and are pretty comfortable. In fact, after I (pretty quickly) got used to them, I don't even notice them while out for my daily walk. I cannot comment on suitability for runners because I don't run. But for those who take daily walks, these are pretty nice.
I would recommend that anyone just starting any sort of exercise regime to purchase weights on the lower weight end. I bought the 2 lb. weights and 2 lbs is a surprising amount of weight, although as I said above, I did get used to them fairly quickly.
Additionally, I appreciated the email I received from the vendor shortly after ordering the weights. The vendor provided his contact information in case I had any questions or issues with the weights.

They worked fine until they didn't

I am changing what used to be a 5-star review.
Having read what others have said about the issues they experienced I previously gave this a 5 star review and added the caveat that I was not using these roughly in any way and that they were purely indoor so that may be why I, unlike others, did not experience quality issues. However, now I have begun to experience those issues as well despite the very light use so I really can't keep a high rating on this.
About a month ago one of the weights developed a tear (in an area that doesn't really experience a lot of stress on the material, so I have no idea why) and was leaking the metal pellets that are inside. This is on top of the general quality concerns I was willing to ignore like the reflective material lining the edges easily wearing off. I haven't even owned these a full year and while I have owned them they have been used only 2-3 times a week at most. At the time I noticed the issue it had maybe been 8 months since I bought them. Product just isn't durable at all.
This is in regards to the 5lb weights, maybe the lighter weights don't experience these issues as frequently. I wouldn't suggest these at all.

I lost a great deal of endurance
Donald Cameron✓ Verified Purchase•September 1, 2017
After 8 weeks confined to bed after surgery for a torn patella tendon, I lost a great deal of endurance, muscle mass and strength. As a serious competitive runner for more than 50 years, I was quite down and frustrated about not being in good shape. The surgeons recommended a very slow and cautious recovery with which I totally agreed--I never want to go through an experience like this again. As part of my recovery, rebuilding strength and learning how to walk again, I bought a pair of ankle/wrist weights (2 lbs each). I used them on my first walks (about 1/2 mile) with crutches and a knee brace. After a few weeks of this and slowly lengthening the distance I walked, I was able to give up the crutches and walk only with the knee brace. Initially it was indicated that I would be able to walk normally and comfortably by the end of October (the accident was in mid -May) but it now seems I will be able to walk without the brace by the end of September. I am convinced that wearing these ankle weights has contributed to my more rapid than anticipated recovery. I wear them while walking each day (now up to 2 1/2 miles) and doing leg lifts and abdominal strengthening each day. I would recommend staying with the two pound weights. Even though it seems like a small weight, believe me when I say that it is stunning how much strength one loses in 8 weeks of being confined to bed and that 2 pounds is much heavier than one might think. The weights are comfortable and very easy to put on. I highly recommend them for those who are healthy as well as those who are recovering from some form of surgery.
HORRIBLE QUALITY

Horrible quality, item tore after 2 uses. Metal balls now everywhere in my living room for me to clean up! Buyers beware!
