Previous to this purchase, we got another brand and it was smaller and weaker than depicted in the advert. I mention because of other reviews I've made.
After that disappointment I did a bit of research and found "Vive Hand Strengthener Grip Ring (6 Pack)" on Amazon and that turned out to be what we wanted. Full sized, smooth surface, somewhat scales to 10lb-50lb without annoying stacking. If you Google for this product outside of Amazon, you'll find that they're from a legit medical supply company. I still bought them via Amazon because free delivery with Amazon Prime, if you don't have Prime, maybe order directly from ViveHealth.

Perfect. Does not rip like others.

I love these rings. Had a couple that ripped and these have been great so far and can see no signs of wear.
Good quality rings

The rings seem to be of good quality so far. I use them every day and have had no issues. Each ring has a pound rating or it... I'm not sure what they really mean. There is absolutely a vast difference between the lightest rated ring and the heaviest. I guess the LB rating is there mostly as a guide to know the power it will take to squeeze each ring. As a point of reference, my wife is petite and has difficulty fully squeezing the 30LB ring. The heaviest rated rings do have good resistance and would be a decent workout for an average male.
Comfortable, no odor, good range of resistance

I used to have the Black Diamond light blue ring in my car for years (a well known rock climber habit) and the thing stunk (literally). I think of a lot of the odor problems we have with products these days as being due to poor environmental regulations from China. I have no idea where that old ring (now in the garbage) or these rings are made, but these in particular have no odor I can perceive at all and for the cost of that one Black Diamond ring (roughly counting for inflation), I get 6 rings. I pretty much never use the softest or the hardest, but I like using the middle 4 (and maybe someday I'll like the hardest). I don't bother with a manual for this sort of thing - I do what I want or I might look up suggested exercises online so I'm not grading the quality of the instructions which I promptly tossed in the recycle bin.
I also purchased the balls (middle 4 colors), but I find I use those a lot less often - the rings allow for a greater travel during the squeeze which feels like it would be better exercise (I have no data to support that of course, so use your own judgement - the balls are also nice - no odor and good texture too).

Please Squeeze

I have not even tried the 50 or 60 lb. ones yet. The 10 was too easy so I moved up to the 20 and 30. I am 65 and have bad osteoarthritis in both hands (and many fingers) and my right wrist. I use the 20 and 30 for my left hand and the 30 for my right hand. Just started the 40 a few days ago and cannot even squeeze that with my left hand but I can with my right hand.
I can do the other exercise where you put all your fingers inside the ring and flex outwards but I have extreme difficulty doing the one finger at a time squeeze. Thought I could do it with my right hand but that really hurts my wrist. Wish I would have known about these when my hands were in better shape.
I would highly recommend these for people with healthy hands and for people like me to use caution. Many years ago a wonderful friend of my parents told me to "use it even if it hurts" and I still try to heed her advise.
They were delivered in a timely manner and they were very reasonably priced.
Had my hands been in the shape they were a few years ago I would have rated easy to use and comfort both 5 stars.
