Great cooler for the price

This cooler is surprisingly rugged, yet comfortable to carry and it stays cold for 3+ days with the recommended ratio of ice to drinks/food. The latches are easy to use with one hand. I didn't do a scientific test with thermometers around the lid to test for cold leakage. It does steadily leak liquid from the hinge corners when upturned, even with a ratchet strap tied around it. Removing and reinstalling the gasket helped a little. If they fix these leaks by replacing the gasket and/or reducing the space between the lid and body at the hinges a fraction of a unit, the ice will last longer. The rubber feet and the tie down points are perfect for securing this with tarp straps to your boat, truck, trailer, or in my case, a small platform where the passenger seat is supposed to be :). I used this cooler for my trip across the states to Arizona and to the smokey mountains. I highly recommend this cooler if you don't want to spend a ton of money. If you think it's too expensive, go look at the prices for the higher rated coolers and then come back here.
Decent size, moderately good ice retention

Expensive little cooler. It's a Pelican, so that is expected. It could have better ice retention but all and all it is better than most. It will hold for a couple of hot days. I find actually dumping the ice bag into the cooler gives best performance. Ice packs and such, not as good for ice cold beer!
Typical Pelican Quality-Great for wine bottles, does a fair job of cooling

I've owned Pelican cases for years, this is the 1st cooler I've ordered from Pelican. Also own a K2 rotomolded cooler and yeti soft sides. Good: The latches are top notch, keeping cooler well shut, way better than the Yeti/K2 rubber latches. Bad: Sucker is heavy and really needs wheels. We use this cooler primarily on the wakeboard boat here in central Texas (where its 100 degrees) every day this summer. The taller design of this cooler was the reason we went with it because it takes up less footprint on the boat that the K2. It is definitely a deep cooler and great for wine bottles or tall bottles. We've found that the ice melts quite rapidly in the cooler, turning to water much faster than yeti or K2, BUT- if its prechilled with ice for 3-4 hours, it maintains ice for the whole day. It is a leaner and less efficient option than the heavy duty 3" thick rotomolded coolers. Handle is top quality and smart cutout for the carrying of it along your leg. But, man, hauling this cooler full for about 1/4 mile hike to the boat is an ordeal. I would guess fully loaded its nearly 40lbs. It is great as a Seat though, and is sturdy enough to sit and stand on for as long as needed. The cutouts for the drink locations on the top are mostly useless if you use a koozy, which 99% of people do. Make those bigger and they'll be a nice feature. Overall, decent cooler, I'd probably buy again, but would be great if it had a wheel option of a strap. Its just a mofo to carry.
Great!

I travel for work and use this as the cooler that I leave in my car. It's a very nice size and it keeps things cold for a very long time.
Great size for those quick trips in the car.

It's a Pelican product. Pretty much all you need to know. Keeps things cool, latches are easy to work and very secure, good rubber feet and the handle feels plenty strong. Speaking of the handle, it has three detents at the top position so when you put it down, it doesn't just flop down to the side. A nice little feature. Also the grip is very comfortable.
Finally, the colors look great.

Update: I dropped this one star. I'd say it's probably a 4.5 but I don't have that option.

So I have had and used this cooler for almost 4 years now. Here is what I don't like.

The inside has three molded channels. I assume this is to give it rigidity. The problem is channels are hard to clean. What's worse is these become increasingly narrow towards the bottoms of the cooler. Smaller than a q- tip. That's annoyingly hard to clean and in my humble opinion, an unnecessary design choice. Make the ridges reversed or at least wide enough to clean easier.
Two, the handle detents? Yeah they have worn away so that now I have to waste time trying to perfectly balance the handle to stay upright. Most of the time I haven't got it right and it falls as I walk away.
Third, again with the handle. It's super sturdy but it's not large enough to have the latches on any position other than closed to rotate it over them. It's also easy to pinch your fingers in this handle if your not careful.
My final dislike is how this cooler is top heavy and wants to fall over unless it's packed in between stuff. I'd rather an equal size base or perhaps built in legs

On the plus side, this thing is a tank. Works really well at keeping things cold even if left in the vehicle during a sunny day.
Makes a solid seat.
Latches are still perfect.
