The first night I slept with these shut I couldn't believe how dark my room was. It's as dark as having my eyes closed. Just wish I found them sooner. One tip: hang them as high and wide as possible to block the most light.

I needed dark curtains to block out as much light as possible because I spend so much time in bed during the day. These work "okay" at blocking direct sunlight, however you'll have to get creative to find a way to seal the seams against your window trim if you really want a dark room. The fabric itself washed okay in my washing machine, and feels to be of reasonable quality.

Curtains are very nice, but are about two shades darker than seen on computer. I had to shorten them a bit and found the fabric snagged significantly on the feeder dog of the sewing machine. This caused some pulled threads, but the threads did not break and were easily smoothed back out by pulling the fabric. They are of a heavy weight that hangs nicely but the wrinkles were quit difficult to remove and required both an iron and a steamer and a lot of time. However, once done they flowed beautifully. I highly recommend these curtains at this price point.
