I guess you could call it assembly, but you really only need to insert the glass panels. Easy to fill with fuel. I followed all directions and had no problems. In use, I love the effect. Unique. A fascinating accent to most any room. Remember this can be moved around a room, from room to room or outdoors. Take your time, read the instructions and warnings. It was really beautiful, but it only lasted 1/2 hour. Then you have to wait 15 minutes or more for it to completely cool before adding more fuel. That made if hard to sit and relax on the deck for very long with it.
