I love this singing bowl & use it regularly for sacred purposes. I'm not sure why some people complain theirs won't sing, they must be doing it wrong because mine worked on the first try & ive never had a problem with it "not singing." I usually place the bowl directly on my hand, but just yesterday I held the pillow in my hand with the bowl on top & I was absolutely shocked at how long the bowl continued to sing after I stopped ringing it/circling it with the wand/whatever you call that (it was like magic!). To clarify: you hold the leather part of the wand, use the wooden part to sing the bowl. The wand is held similar to how you would hold a pencil. I keep my eyes on it the first minute or two, until my hand memorized the angle & movement. After that I close my eyes & meditate while playing it for ten minutes or more at a time. The sound is very calming & spiritually peaceful. I also use the sound to charge my crystals & gemstones. I purchased the brown one with the red pillow & im very happy. Keep your eye on the price of these, which fluctuates daily like the stock market (insert eyes rolling emoji here). I purchased when it was down to $34.99, but over a three week period I watched the price go as high as $42, which would be a rip off considering the next day it would go down to $37. Amazon should try to be a little more honest with their prices (eyes rolling emoji again).

I did extensive research on singing bowls for weeks because my wife has wanted a singing bowl for a long time. Based on all of the reviews and videos I watched, I trusted that Silent Mind had the best quality singing bowls available on the market. I wanted to get this as a gift to surprise my wife for Christmas. I originally wanted to get her the gold singing bowl but unfortunately it was out of stock. I didn't want to risk waiting for the gold bowl to be available again and with Christmas so close, I settled on ordering the brass bowl. The bowl arrived today and I'm extremely disappointed in the quality of the bowl. It does not look like the picture and it has red/pink stains all over it? The bowl is scratched and chipped? It is also pitted and corroded inside? Is this normal? The detail is absolutely terrible and reflects poor craftsmanship. Very misleading in what I received versus the photos on Amazon. The quality just doesn't compare. I'm very stressed and worried because I'm not going to be able to give this singing bowl as a gift to my wife. I would be embarrassed to say the least. I'm at a loss.

Another update: I'm just going to have to eat crow on this. I really like the bowl now. I've played other bowls before so I just assumed the bowl sucked when it was hard to play. Apparently it was just operator error. I've gotten much better at playing this one and it works great and sounds good. Just requires a little finesse. Anyway, I'm updating it to 4 stars, where it will remain.

Update: The little bowl has grown on me a lot. I also paid (a little) less for it than I remember with their seasonal promo code, which helps. To be fair, I'm updating my rating to 3 stars.

Initial reaction/review: I was immediately disappointed when I saw how small the bowl was. Then when I played it, I was immediately disappointed with the function, as well as the form. It's so small and the wand isn't dense enough. It's very difficult to get any volume out of the thing. I have played my friend's larger bowls before and they're MUCH easier than this one. On top of all this, the paint job is sloppy and the bowl is already blemished. You can see some examples of the blemishes in the photo. They're present throughout. I included a 500ml water bottle as well as my hand for a size comparison. I really thought this thing would be better with so many positive ratings. Oh well... you can't win them all. I would absolutely not buy this item again unless it was less than half the price. 2 stars.

Update: The company kindly contacted me after my review and asked for pictures. I sent them and did more research & watched YouTube videos. I think my bowl was too cold (even though I live in the south I keep my place cool in winter and warmer in the summer). I warmed it up and used a longer mallet from a larger bowl I ordered from another company... I got it to play immediately. Still can't get it to play with the mallet it came with even after warming the bowl. Think the issue is the short mallet. Will change my review to 4 stars... I love the bowl... minus one because the mallet may keep it from playing as well as it could. Happy now. Just tried it again and it wouldn't play. Note: Maybe this is a summer bowl. 😠Like me... it likes the heat!.

Pretty little bowl. Can't get it to play. Have no trouble with my other ones from other companies. I think sometimes there can be a change in tone during shipping (?) but for it not to even play at all is a little strange. Again, pretty little bowl. 😉

I am very pleased with my purchase. I just became 200hr yoga instructor so I am looking for items to incorporate into my classes. I was fortunate to have found this on a lightning deal. The bowl is small but don't be fooled, it makes wonderful soothing sounds. It takes a bit of mastery and a steady gentle hand to persuade the bowl to sing. It sounds pretty cool too. Tapping the bowl make a wonderful peaceful meditative sound. The bowl itself is very attractive well made and very good quality. The Price is GREAT! Namaste!
