I bought this cable to use between an older KVM switch which only has VGA out, and my newer monitor.
When I got the package I opened it up to find the cable. Period. I plugged everything in but there was no video showing on my monitor. I powered down the PC and fired it up again. Still no good.
After that I decided I would plug in the USB portion of the cable into the KVM. Bingo! I had video!
Turns out the USB has to provide power to the adapter cable to make it work. A simple instruction sheet in the packaging would have been great!
Now that it's all connected I am very happy with the cable. I am running at a resolution of 1600x900 and everything is crystal clear.
