Works great, but OMG the batteries!

I got these for our hallway at night. My mom tends to wander about at night, and needs some light for navigation without turning on the overhead fixture. With no outlets in the hallway, I needed something exactly like this product. I mounted two of them on the bottom of Mom's handrail, and we have been thrilled with their performance in general. Two notes, though: (1) weak adhesive on the magnetic strips, and (2) goes through a lot of batteries.
I ended up having to use superglue to affix the magnetic strips, because the adhesive backing just didn't hold.
We have to replace the four AAA batteries on these about once a month. This totally wouldn't be a problem in a seldom-used closet or something, but with three humans and a small dog triggering the lights all the time (it's a dim hallway, so they come on even during the day) even LEDs can't make the batteries last long.

These closet lights are very useful for dark closets or cabinets. They are well made and the LED lights provide just the right illumination. The motion sensor is sensitive and the lights stay on as long as there is motion. Quickly grabbing a coat and shutting the door provides just a short enough burst of light (maybe 15 seconds) thus saving the batteries. The LEDs give off a soothing light, not the blueish light of older LEDs. As an option, I would like to see the light bar holder that has a magnet tape to attract the light bar come with two pre-drilled holes for extra security. I unfortunately moved my holder twice by peeling it off the gloss molding until I found the right location in the closet thereby reducing the stick quality of the holder backing. It fell off the door molding overnight but did not break after landing on a tile floor from a seven foot height, the light bar still works perfectly. It is very easy to drill into the holder if this happens. I could not be more pleased at what these lights do to improve visibility in a dark closet. Highly recommend them and will buy more when needed.

I had to tap the light to get it to register motion when I first got it. Works great going to check on my son at night or coming home late nights and not wanting to turn on the living room light but it doesn't ALWAYS stay on until I make it across the living room. Also the one in my bathroom doesn't register motion unless I frantically flail my arms. It does turn on when I'm not in the room which can be creepy sometimes. Customer service emailed me after my first review and they were great and understanding.
Ps my boyfriend hates them for some reason but I think they're a great idea if you don't plan on using them for minutes at a time (ex doing laundry or going through your closet)

We have a cupboard in the hallway outside of the bathroom that we use as an enormous medicine cabinet. Even with the hall light on seeing beyond the front 6 inches or so becomes dicey especially as our eyesight continues to deteriorate with age. So I decided to look for a battery-operated light to use in there and was quite pleased when I ran across these on Amazon. In my mind's eye, I was picturing some clunky old unit that eats batteries like you'd find on an infomercial in the old days. Being rechargeable and knowing how bright LED lights can be I was sold on these when I read the description. Then when they arrived I was beyond pleased. They're very bright and almost effortless to install. The most mechanically challenged person ever could install these in only minutes. No kidding. They double as really great emergency lights when the power goes out too. Put one in each room like the bathroom for example and it'll light the space up for you as you walk thru the door considering it's well placed.
I'm going to order more of these while I'm thinking about them. Put them anywhere you could use a little more light.

I purchased these for two closets which don't have lights. My choice was crawl in the attic and run wires or try these. Simple choice.
I purchased two sets of three lights. The first three went into my wife's closet where they light up perfectly with motion as you approach. They also to my surprise stayed in place. Any product I buy with some type of adhesive mount I expect to fail.
Then I mounted three in my closet. All three were placed in clean, dry and smooth surfaces. The first one fell off within 15 minutes. Once that happens it's safe to assume it will never stay in place and it hasn't. The second of the three fell off within a couple days. So, not surprised by that.
For the money and saving me yet another house project they are worth it. To get these to stay I will have to try heavy duty woven carpet tape. That can pull paint off of surfaces as the tack of the tape exceeds the adhesion of the paint.
