Based on some of the reviews (leaking oil, bad boxing, etc), I decided I wanted it to be commercially shipped so I bought this online at home depot. It was shipped to my local home depot store. The boxing was in pretty bad shape and there was some oil that was leaking out from the front. I put it together in about 30 minutes, put some oil and 87 octane gas in it and it came to life in one pull.

I've been using it every weekend for 2 months now. Its been pretty solid compacting base rock, decomposed granite, and dirt. It self propels which makes compacting pretty easy.

The Amazon WEB site, stated a "Stamping Pad Included" in the grey box on the right labeled "What's Included". But it turns out that may not be true. Disappointed here as this was in my cost, feature comparison list. And it appears I may have to buy it. Not good. Kind of upsetting as it moved the true cost of the unit above a couple other units.

The WEB site should be updated! I made a jpeg copy of it and may try to get a stamping pad. I need it.

The product goes together fast. Very easy. Be careful with the wheel attachment. The cover of the manual and page three show them backwards. But the instruction section is correct. I was scratching my head for a second. But quick and easy to fix.

The wheels are a lifesaver and one of the reasons I went with this unit. I've rented before and have needed two guys to move the renal unit around. The wheels make it so easy

I worry about the gas cap getting smooshed by the handle when you fold it up. Just have to remember to be careful.

Need to go buy some oil and try it out now.

I received the compactor in the time specified, and was surprised by the good quality of the unit. The assembly instructions were fairly straightforward, although I did have to search a bit to find what kind of oil to use (it was in the enclosed engine manual, and not in the manual for the compactor itself). As far as usage, I am a homeowner but have used several different brands of plate compactor for home projects, this one is actually better to run than some others I have used...there is very little vibration in the handle while operating, and even this little 1850lb model compacts well. For the price, this is an excellent alternative to putting up with the headaches associated with renting a compactor from a rental store. I plan to use this for several projects at home and at family and friends' homes and sell it when I am done. I would definitely recommend, so far.

Very good performance in building a 20' x 30' paver patio

Arrived faster than expected. The single box that it came in looked like it fell off a fast moving truck. However, the machine was in good condition & started right up. The wheels are a nice feature.
