So......we got this umbrella and went down the Joisey Shore. I screwed the base into the sand to the best of my ability.....it wasn't TOO breezy so I reckoned it would be fine. We were sitting there in our comfy beach chairs enjoying the view of the surfers, spotting the dolphins and watching out for the Ospreys cruising by with fresh fish firmly held in their talons to feed to the babbies back in the nest. All of a sudden there was a gust of wind that came out of NOWHERE!~!! The umbrella was RIPPED out of the sand and laid down on the beach. The next second another gust blew the umbrella point-first directly into my chest! The GOOD thing about this was that the "point" was actually rounded instead of sharp so didn't impale me. Gave me a bit of a surprise and was actually bruised for a couple of days but not injured at all! Moral of the story is......screw the base into the sand as far as you can!!

This is a beautiful umbrella and functions exactly as I would want. Adjustable height, easily tilts to an angle, throws plenty of shade for a couple people. It sets up and takes down quickly and is lightweight to carry. I've had it out in wind 12 mph and it didn't budge. I also bought the tray table and hooks which make it even more useful. Since the tray table has its own fastener, you can put that at any height you want too. Since this is my first beach umbrella I have nothing to compare to, but it is a little hard to screw it into the sand. I really put my weight into it and I can hear it grinding into the rocky sand and have never gotten it more that halfway to the mark they say. Makes me wonder how long that plastic cork screw will last before getting ground down or broken. But that's the only negative I can come up with and since mine is new, there's certainly nothing wrong with it yet.

We have used this umbrella in some strong winds at the beach this winter and it has held up great! It comes with a screw in anchor which is really key to keeping it in place. Provides ample shade when angled toward the sun. We liked it so much we bought another! So now we have 2 to use when we have family visiting.
Very sturdy so far, not 100% UV blocking.

I have used this umbrella 3 or 4 times now at the beach, on decently windy days, and it has not overturned on me once. It has kept its structure each time. I love how big it is. I love that the base is screwed in pretty deep and very easy to use and gives it a very sturdy base so it doesn't fly off. The tilting function is great to adjust to the angle of the sun and direction of wind.
I don't know if we are not screwing it in tight enough, and I'm sure this will happen to most tilting umbrellas anyway, but sometimes the umbrella will slightly rotate in the direction that the wind is blowing it no matter how tight I try to secure the pole in. This isn't that big of a deal, it doesn't rotate much.
I will say: this umbrella is NOT 100% UV protective. We went on a particularly sunny and hot day and stayed under the umbrella 90% of the time and we still got tan and slightly sunburned while napping in the shade. Make sure you are still applying sunscreen!
