Great tone and neck feel

For many years I've observed this guitar from afar - dreaming (and drooling lol!). I include as my favorite numbers 5150 and 1984. I own several Kramer guitars - just because of this particular guitar which was never for sale before (not like this). They are indeed great - like the Kramer 1984 that I purchased from Music Yo some years ago. Then they came out with the White Baretta 1985 re-issue (with the slant pickup). Very cool too. But wait! Fast forward to now. Wow! I'm speechless! Is this for real? What I first noticed is how lightweight it is - like a feather. I plugged it right into the amp and after a quick tune - I can honestly say it is completely outstanding. The D-tuna is there too - cool!
I love the instructions as well which includes Eddie's notes about the volume nob and how you turn it and he says: "DUH!" Haha!. Those simple words really define this guitar - absolute down to earth simplicity (and yet there is so much to understand under the hood). Please read everything he talks about. There isn't a lot to know but what he says really makes an impression. Eddie is both serious and lighthearted and it shows in this guitar. It is a work of art.
Of very significant importance is the EVH brand - signed off by Eddie personally. And if you look at all of the guitar products and amps he's overseen - there is an incredible quality because they are designed by one of the worlds greatest musicians. Where do you find that elsewhere? He plays the actual products he sells. So the EVH brand is very important to me in this purchase. There are other "copies" - but this is the "real deal." I never had my other guitars modified (to be more 5150 like)I guess because it just wouldn't have been IT. But now IT is really here! This is the "Wow!"
Looking at it - and what I admire so much is the simplicity - and yet behind every tiny aspect - there is some of Eddie's invention. And think about it: there are a lot of guitar players - but do you know one that builds their own to get the right sound? And now you can purchase one from the inventor himself! Ok.
I've always loved the guitar but was really inspired to learn to play because of Eddie and the Van Halen albums.
I know it's a matter of person preference - your favorite guitar. Sure there are a lot of great guitars out there. But as far as I'm concerned this is the finest masterpiece and frankly at this price it's like a give-away. As for particular technical details - not included here - well that will take months of research. Study the 5150 and 1984 guitar and then you will know the details - because this guitar incorporates all that knowledge in one place. That's another thing to consider.
I could rant a lot more. I almost never do reviews but after this arrived today I really wanted to thank Eddie himself somehow.
Bottom line: Worlds Best Guitar! The EVH 5150 (Striped Series: Red, Black, and White) Simply the best guitar you can buy today!
