Super slim, great for pet hair, very thorough cleaner
J. Fix✓ Verified PurchaseAugust 10, 2023
I bought this after seeing how highly it was rated for pet hair cleanup. We have a dog who sheds constantly, and that was the most important feature - no clogging due to pet hair. Also, the slim form factor was important because we have a lot of furniture that we wanted to ensure the unit could fit under to get all of the hair.

Noise: I don't have other robot vacuums to compare to, but based on what I expected the noise level to be (maybe a 2 out of 10, where a 10 is an upright vacuum), this thing is about a 4 out of 10. It's not quiet, but you don't have to yell over it. I try to run it when I'm in the kitchen cooking or doing projects around the house - definitely not when we're watching TV or trying to have a conversation.

Cleaning effectiveness: The first time it ran, I literally just followed it around the house for about 45 minutes. It has some obvious patterns of movements that it very successfully rotates between. It never got 'stuck' on any furniture. However, phone charging cables or cords lying on the ground did present a bit of a problem for it. Definitely need to get any TV cords or whatever off the ground. We have throw rug/carpet mats at each of our exterior doors and the unit, about 50% of the time, will fold the edge/corner of the rug over, stop, then back up and move on. It does have a wheel that will 'elevate' the entire unit to help it clear rugs or small flooring transitions, and that works amazingly. The only problem I've seen with rugs are if they are lightweight and can get pushed around easily, but the unit does not get tangled up to the point of needing rescue. If you let it go, it will eventually clean every area completely.

Hopper capacity: This is a tradeoff. The slim form factor and small diameter of the unit allows it to get just about everywhere...BUT...the hopper is about 5"x3.5"x2" - if you have a pet who sheds regularly, this unit will NOT replace your upright vacuum cleaner. It is strictly a maintenance cleaner...and even at that, you will be emptying the hopper several times during a cleaning operation. Which leads to the biggest complaint of the unit - when the hopper gets full, it beeps several times (relatively quietly, compared to the running noise) and then just shuts off. If you're not in the same room when it gets full, you might have to go looking for it when you notice it hasn't been making the cleaning noise for awhile. I've found it in various places, all over the house. It would be nice if it would just "go home" to charge and wait for you to empty it, instead of leaving itself in the middle of the floor where you could accidentally step on it if you weren't paying attention.

Remote: Works very well - has a scheduling feature on it, which I guess would be cool if you didn't have a pet - maybe it could clean your house without getting full. For now, we only run it if we're in the house to empty the hopper when it gets full.

Overall: I'd recommend it. It's relatively unobtrusive (for what it is) and cleans hard floors and carpet surfaces really well. It doesn't get tangled up with hair and the hopper/filters are easy to empty/clean. It's a maintenance cleaner, but it functions very well as one.

Purchased the iLife v3s pro at end of November, 2021 on Black Friday sale. So it has had daily use for 2 months.

I had soured on robot vacuums after going through 2 expensive iRobot vacs 7-8 years ago that got pet hair hopelessly entangled in its main brush gears and constant hangups under chairs. The iLife caught my attention first because of the low price and the high customer ratings. My interest piqued when I read that it had no central brush, just two counter-rotating side brushes. Simple design. One thing that did work well on the iRobots was their single side brushes, which had few issues. The iLife having 2 seemed like a good idea. I have a super shedder Golden. Reviews confirmed that this did great on pet hair. So I sprung for this vacuum, and so glad I did.

I programmed the schedule for it to run automatically every morning before I get up to clean a large great room, kitchen with a table rug with short tassels and runner along the island, attached mud/laundry, an entry with a thick rug, and a long hallway. The v3s bin is full every day, mostly with hair, but also a lot of small crumbs and fine dust. It's pretty impressive what it picks up, actually. It climbs up the entry rug, which is almost and inch thick, with no problem. It has never tumbled down the staircase near the entry. Sometimes the side brushes catch a corner of the kitchen rugs, but the vac does a maneuver where it rotates 90 degrees and goes to one side or the other and disentangles from the raised rug. I never have to intervene. It does well on the carpet in the great room. All of the rugs are very low pile, and the carpet is medium pile. I don't know how it would handle shag rugs or carpet. It does dishevel the kitchen table rug tassels a bit. You do have to tie up electrical chords a few inches off the floor, and it did get hung up a few times on the Christmas tree skirt.

If you let it run, it cleans for about 1.5 hours and returns to the charger. The return is hit and miss. But I found about an hour is long enough, so after that time I pick up the unit, take it over to the hallway down which the charger is located, aim it at the charger and push the start button to start it on its way. After a few seconds I press the Home button on the remote and it reliably finds its way back and starts charging. All of that takes about 15 seconds.

Daily 5 minute or less maintenance involves wiping dust from the front and back screens with a wet paper towel or kleenex, and emptying the dust bin. When I dump the dust bin, I take out the main filter and tap it clean against the inside of the garbage can. I tap the open dust bin gently against the garbage can to dislodge dust from the fine filter. Every few days I take the fine filter out and tap it against the inside of the garbage can to dislodge even more fine dust. I haven't replaced the fine dust filter yet, but I did buy a box of 10 from iLife on Amazon, which I think will be about a 2 year or more supply. After about 6 weeks I noticed some fuzz coming from underneath the bases of the side brushes. They were easy to unscrew and both had dog hair and lint wound around the stem of the brushes that was easy to pull out. No hair down in the gears. This took about 5 minutes and will probably be needed on a fairly regular basis.

Does it clean perfectly? No, but almost. Along the kitchen runner where it has one wheel up on the rug and one wheel on the wood floor, it misses a few crumbs that I have to pick up with a broom or my Dyson. Occasionally there is a crumb that I wet a finger and pick up by hand. Now and then the corners need to be cleaned by hand. But overall it has almost eliminated the need to vacuum regularly. Bottom line, I love this thing. Praying that it holds up long term.

10 August 2021 (update #1)

I have run the V80 Max, aka KENÓ, through multiple real-world tests, sometimes twice per day (after full battery charge), in order to determine the full capability & functionality. The information below are the results of this one persons tests.

~ Tested the cliff sensors. My stairs have a 3 foot by 4 foot landing. I placed KENÓ on the landing and sent him off on his journey. The V80 Max sensed the cliff and changed direction. After about 3 minutes, the V80 Max 'determined' that it had cleaned the entire area and then stopped. I did not know the V80 Max had this functionality. My guess is the V80 Max can determine the area it is cleaning and then stop when the V80 Max has figured out it cleaned the entire area. Not a bad function.

~ I wanted to see if KENÓ would find his way back to the charging station if he started his journey in a different location of the floor and not from the charging station. As soon as KENÓ finished cleaning, he found his way back to the charging station. I did not know this functionality existed. It appears that no matter where the V80 Max begins, it will always find its way back to the charging station.

~ There have been some issues with the remote control and the cleaning schedule. After setting the cleaning schedule for a specific time, the V80 Max started at the designated time and did its thing. However, when the cleaning schedule was changed (via the remote control), the V80 Max started at the new time, but only cleaned for 25 - 30 minutes before returning to the charging station. Not sure what is going on as this behavior is sporadic. Sometimes it cleans the entire area. Sometimes it does not.

~ On several test runs, when KENÓ completed cleaning (about 1 hour) and returned to the charging station, I immediately started the V80 Max again to test battery capacity. The V80 Max ran for another consecutive cleaning schedule about 45 minutes in length. That would mean battery life is really about 1.75 hours versus the 1 hour life listed in the operational manual. I have not tried to operate KENÓ for 3 consecutive runs.

~ KENÓ was moved to the second floor (3 bedrooms, 1 bathroom, about 1000 sq ft area) without the charging station. The V80 Max was sent on its journey. It cleaned the entire area without issue. Keep in mind there are area rugs in each room. At one point, the V80 Max got caught up in the fringe of the area rug. However, it was able to back it self up as soon as it sensed an issue and just kept on its way. It appears the V80 Max will first try to 'free' itself when faced with a potential issue. Pretty cool. When KENÓ finished cleaning the entire area, it just stopped in close proximity to where it was placed down.

I am still impressed with the ability of this device. The capacity of the dust bin is awesome! The dust bin holds so much and is very easy to clean. Today I loaded the app and connected KENÓ to the home Wifi. Over the next several weeks I will run tests via the Wifi and see how the V80 Max performs. I will make another edit to this review.

Hope all this helps.

2 August 2021

Purchased this product in July 2021. Very simple to put together for use (took about 5 minutes). Charged it up for six hours before first use. For context, my main floor is an open floor concept with furniture, tables, chairs and other obstacles. Floor plan covers kitchen, dining room, living room, laundry room, bathroom (about 800 square feet total). There are welcome mats/rugs in front of both entry doors and one low-pile area rug (5x8) in front of sectional sofa. All floors in my house are either hard wood or tile. Any rugs are low-pile area rugs, small in size.

First usage, V80 Max (which I named KENÓ, it is Greek for vacuum, I know, corny) was pretty good. KENÓ does his little pattern picking up everything in its path. A good item about the V80 Max, is there is no roller brush mechanism that picks up dust/dirt. Instead, there is a square opening where the dust/dirt gets sucked into. I think this is a good feature because the roller brush typically needs maintenance to clean the axle, preventing the axle from getting jammed. The V80 Max took its entire battery life, about one (1) hour, to clean the entire 800 square feet. Because of its zig zag pattern, it actually cleaned the area twice.

When the battery ran low, KENÓ began his journey back to the base to recharge. The V80 Max follows the same cleaning pattern to make its way back to the charging station. I was hoping the V80 Max would just make a direct route to the charging station. This is not the case. It took a bit for the V80 Max to make its way back. The end result, KENÓ found his way to the charging station and re-docked without incident.
The dust bin, which is good size, was very easy to empty and the three (3) filters, stacked like a sandwich, were just as easy to clean. After a second six (6) hours of charging, KENÓ was sent on his second journey. Again, no issues navigating all the obstacles. And full disclosure, some were pretty tight quarters. The remote control lets you select different cleaning patterns. I just left the pattern as a zig zag pattern. The remote control button to send the V80 Max back to the charging station does just that. Again, the V80 Max does NOT make a straight path back - it follows the same zig zag pattern while utilizing a fraction of its power.

I did use the remote control to set up a scheduled cleaning for the second test run. KENÓ started right up at the scheduled time, performed the task, and returned to the charging station without incident when the battery got low. I have not tested the stair sensor capability just yet. Only because I have not moved KENÓ to the second floor (3 bedrooms, 1 bathroom). Perhaps in the future.
The ease of ordering replacement filters and brushes was as easy as doing a search on Amazon. A set of 10 replacement filters along with 3 sets of rotor brushes are $14.99. Good items to have just in case. Upon further research, I discovered there is a 'mop' attachment (swap out vacuum attachment for mop attachment) that can be ordered for the V80 Max. In reality, odds are slim-to-none that I will order that attachment to turn the V80 Max from a vacuum into a mop.

Please keep in mind I have had the V80 Max for less than one week and used it twice. Both times I was impressed with its functionality. I will use the V80 Max at least once per week, using the automatic schedule function to run KENÓ at night. It is quiet enough to run at night while sleeping. If there are any adverse issues in the future, I will update this post.

Overall, very satisfied with the product, its ability, and the price. Would recommend to my family and friends that have hard wood or tile floors and no pets.

Hoped this review helps.

Cheers

My magic robot friend

We have never owned a robot vacuum before, but I decided to try this one based on good reviews, especially regarding the ability to pick up pet hair. The price was well below most of the well recognized brands, so we took the plunge.

This is a fairly basic unit, and it will never replace your regular vacuum, but boy do I love him. I named him Merlin, and he is now living his best life, making the dirt and pet hair under our couch and under our beds magically disappear. We have laminate flooring, along with a few area rugs, and he tackles all of these areas with relative ease. I do have to empty his dustbin after every area/room, but that is the least I can do for him. Sometimes, he doesn't pick up every speck of dust, and sometimes I have to use the remote to direct him where I want him to go, but he's doing his best and frankly, aren't we all?

After he is done with his chores, he slowly finds his way home. Sometimes, this takes a while and sometimes, I have to nudge him in the right direction with the remote. I imagine he gets tired after all that hard work.

I'm thrilled to have my magic helper robot and wonder why I didn't get him sooner. I highly recommend him.

Referencing the ILIFE V80 Max Mopping Robot Vacuum and Mop Combo.
This vacuum was fairly easy to set up on the app (I'm a grandma, so it wasn't a snap, but I eventually got it done and connected to Alexa)

Once the vacuum was charged, I told Alexa to start Beastie (Yes, from the movie Malificent)
Beastie started off on a journey throughout the house, then returned to the home base to charge. I'm embarrassed to say the dust bin was completely full. I repeated this process, after charging was complete, three times. Eventually, there was no more dog hair in the dust bin. All the floors were clean. EVEN UNDER THE BEDS!

I live alone with my dog, so my house is very quiet. It did seem a little noisy but definitely not as noisy as a normal vacuum sweeper.

I also used the mopping feature. It was much like my steamer without the steam. I sprayed the floor with fresh smelling cleaner (Mr. Clean) and then placed Beastie down to do a spot clean in the kitchen. It did a great job. There is zero noise when it's mopping.. that was nice.

My dog sheds A LOT. I had to dust mop the main kitchen/living room area and all rooms on the weekends. With this vacuum, I toss the dog toys onto a throw rug that is super plush and set it aside. The vacuum went over all the rest of the throw rugs in the bathrooms and office with no issues at all. It took about an hour for this vacuum to clean my whole house"¦ a task that takes me several hours with the dust mop.

I run this vacuum every morning. I get almost giddy when I walk through the house now and see and feel how clean my floors are!

My only worry is what to do with my spare time now that I don't have to dust mop"¦ this was definitely a game changer!
