The serrations make cutting through difficult materials consirably easier. One example would be stripping out old iso butyl caulking. With non serrated blades it is difficult to hold a straight line and you generally wind up doing a lot more damage than you would like to the wood. Much easier with these blades. Also very nice for cutting cardboard for spray painting shields
