Great product - Purchased one for my Ruger LCPII and ...

Great product - Purchased one for my Ruger LCPII and also this model for my Ruger LC9S - in both cases it added much needed fullness and girth to the very narrow pistol grip but also made it softer for an older guy like myself whom doesn't have the hand strength like I used too. The soft rubber and the fullness to the back strap helps disburse the forces from the recoil throughout your hand. The installation was for sure a chore but worth it - I read the instructions and decided to heat in hot scalding water first - then tried it with a hot blow dryer making it even softer - then applied a small amount of baby powder to the inside of the sleeve (( back in the day I used to surf and scuba dive - baby powder made putting on a full length neoprene wetsuit a breeze - )) Once I got the grip on I knew I would enjoy it. Including some pics.

I can't lie, this thing was a HUGE pain in the butt to put on lol but it was WELL worth it. Ok so a quick breakdown of how I got it on:
1. heat up a bowl of water until almost boiling
2. place rubber grip into the bowl and hold it down with a weight (I used a spoon)
3. let sit for 5-10 minutes so the rubber can be flexible
4. dry off rubber grip and then spray some windex all inside the grip as a lubricant (actually recommended by Hogue's instructions to use windex)
5. slide grip on from the beaver tail first
6. stretch the opposite end over and continue to slide down (this part takes some serious effort)
7. MAKE SURE IT IS STRAIGHT (it will be a HUGE pain in the butt to adjust if it is not put on straight)
After a decent amount of effort you should be good and your grip should be on nice and snug. Trust me, this thing is not going anywhere after you get it on haha. But I HIGHLY RECOMMEND this item. It certainly has made my weapon significantly more comfortable. I absolutely love it and it was super cheap. I am certainly buying more for my other weapons!

Installation wasn't too bad if you follow the many available YouTube videos

The Hogue grip sleeve fits very well on the S&W Shield. Installation wasn't too bad if you follow the many available YouTube videos. I used some Windex on the inside of the sleeve. I did not heat up the grip, only warmed it up in my hands and pre-stretched it some. Apply the Windex with your fingers to the sleeve instead of spraying the pistol handle like the YouTube videos show - don't want over spray all over the gun. It will be difficult to get both the front and back started on the grip, but once you get it started well on both ends it will be donwnhill from there and not too difficult to slip it all the way on. The Shield feels better in the hand with the Hogue sleeve installed.
This is a must have for a Shield.

This is a must have for a Shield. I found that after 1-200 rounds my hand was almost bruised due to the thinness of the single stack Shield. Went to the range and fired 200 rounds and no soreness. Not that challenging to install just follow the instructions. I boiled mine for about 5 minutes, sprayed the inside of the grip, safety checked the pistol, sprayed the grip of the gun (windex) grabbed a towel and went to work. Took about 5 minutes to instal. I highly recommend.
Rubber better than plastic
cat357•December 9, 2017
Install not as bad as some reviews said it would. Hot water, window cleaner and some elbow grease and it slipped on. Overall grip did not add much thickness. So if your buying it because gripe feels small in your hands it's still going to feel small. For me gripping rubber instead of plastic made it much better still feels small but better. Finger grooves feelt good. I shot 200 rounds and couldn't say it was any better than without.
