Realistic talkbox sound. Unit mutes guitar when not mouthing into mic until you switch off the pedal then returns to normal guitar instantly . So, no problems of unwanted effect carrying over into next guitar part. Synth stuff is interesting and may be useful depending on what type of stuff you want to play. I've so far just used it for traditional Joe Walsh and Peter Frampton arrangements where it has done so well as to be indistinguishable from the old mouth tube device.

I just wished it came with the cables and an adapter. But otherwise I love the fact that it can be used with AA batteries

Unit arrived on time, but barely functional. Unit produced no effects at all, although the effect on-off switching worked.
The unit is very well constructed, and well thought out in terms of features (such as programmable inclusion of the dry guitar signal, as well ans momentary vs. latching foot switch function.
I will update this review after a get a functional replacement (there was no option on this item for a direct replacement - I had to return the defective unit and order a replacement separately.
Update - I received unit with the exact same issue - no effects at all - just the programmable switch function works. Both units tested were correctly connected per the manual, and all microphones and cables used to test the unit were separately tested and verified.
Happy Ending...obtained prompt email support from the manufacturer, and we determined that unit had faulty firmware. Using the factory firmware update tool, I was able to enable full functionality.
I wanted a realistic talk box effect without the "hose in mouth", and this unit does that and more!
If I hadn't had to hassle with two defective units, I would give it 5 stars on the basis of its performance.

The sound on this is so eerily similar to a standard tube driven talkbox that it's almost unnoticeable from the norm. Plusses? No tube to clean and jam in your mouth. Just hookup a mic and a guitar or synth putting out a sawtooth wave for the carrier signal and you're off to do your best Zapp impersonation.
