Unfortunately not as effective in our older home

We needed to help deter our son from getting out of his room and into other rooms while sleep training. Given our old 100+ year home, this seemed to be the product to use. They are working reasonably well at slowing him down but we did have two concerns: 1) within 1 week, he was able to take apart the door knob cover in his room within seconds and 2) while the description and reviews indicate it works on old door knobs, based on the size and angulation, the door knobs are still able to turn and disengage under my 2 year olds modest efforts turning it back and forth. Otherwise build quality seems to be reasonably good. For us, it serves as a slight deterrent but not complete security by any means. It may work better for others' applications.

Initial review of this door knob cover is that this design is better than the common design that has a lever-style handle with rubber tabs that grips the door knob when you squeeze the handle. In the handle design, very little hand force is needed for the lever to grip a larger diameter door knob, and children with nothing to do all day will figure out how to overcome these covers.
But the Jool design has two openings that you use to grab the knob with your fingers. Small children don't have the hand strength to grab a door knob by the fingertips- they usually use their entire palm of their hand and their body weight to open doors. Our child, who had figured out how bypass 3 different brands of lever style covers, has been unable to open doors with these new covers.
I think this style of cover is also more universal. As long as the cover fits over the knob, the size of the knob should not change how effective this cover is.
The only downside is that these knobs can be hard for older kids to open as well- my 6 year old has trouble with them. I would suspect that people with hand strength issues or arthritis might also find them uncomfortable.

Honestly at first I thought it was too big, but the size is actually pretty good. It fits both my smaller door handles and the slightly bigger ones. I always wait a couple of days before I review and going on over a week now. Still holding up. Prevents my 22 month old baby boy from getting in and out of rooms. So all in all does it jobs.
Just clip on and if you need to move it to another door (comes with only 4) just press in the middle it comes apart and there you go. The plastic looks fragile but the quality is good. None of the clips have even looked like they are going to break any time soon

Escape artist daughter almost won... ALMOST

My daughter is a world-renowned escape artist. She figured out how to pull these off our doorknobs the very day that I installed them, but because she gets her stubbornness from me, I wasn't going to relent. I put little pieces of packing tape on both seams and now they work wonderfully! They are easy for adults to use but are also great for keeping small children out of areas they shouldn't go. We have standard sized doorknobs and these fit just fine.

Works great for keeping my strong, ornery 2 year old safe! Before I found these he was waking up in the mornings before me & going downstairs by himself & sometimes opening the main doors to the outside...very scary! These have been such a game changer for me & given us such relief! Sooo happy I found these...tried a few other brands too & he was able to pull those off!
