Not for glass.

I bought this as an upgrade to a thin felt mat that came with my NAD C558 which has a glass platter. I removed the felt mat and installed the Hudson. It is a little thicker but I didn't make any adjustments to the VTA. I listened to a couple familiar albums and noticed that the music sounded less defined and kind of muffled. Before, I could hear the different parts of a cymbal strike or a drumbeat. Now that was not as noticeable anymore. Maybe it would work better on a different platter material. If you have a system that's a little to bright sounding this would probably be the ticket. I read somewhere that your turntable is a combination of many parts working together to make a desired sound. ( Not a quote, but you get the idea) Obviously the thin felt mat was chosen for a reason. I'm keeping it anyway, never know, I may change cartridges and need it.

Perfect mat for maintaining level tight play enhancing clean, clear sound over full sound spectrum. Keeps record flat and level, keeps static causing materials from clinging to record surface helping to reduce static pops.

This platter mat is made of a nice soft rubber material; it's very flexible and will clearly absorb more vibration than most stock platter mats, and it's a big improvement over my Audio Technica felt platter mat. That's the good part.
The bad part is that it stinks like crazy. It's clearly out-gassing some sort of nasty smelling solvent... it smells like xylene. I didn't notice it at first, but when I opened the dust cover of my TT, the smell just about knocked me over. With any luck, this will dissipate over the next few days and it will just be a nice soft rubber mat. It also feels a little oily right now.

Reduced static on vinyl and gives a nice non slip, particle free surface for your playing

TLDR: All around improvement from most mats that are included with a new turntable, a cork mat would work just as well but are around the same price anyways
I use a Pro-Ject Debut Carbon, the turntable originally came with a disappointing felt mat that seemed like a static magnet and didnt offer much friction on the platter to reduce any slipping. Overall a full improvement from the mat I used before. I would imagine this would work very well paired with an acrylic platter to give a nice warm static free sound for your listening pleasure

Based on reviews here about replacing the mat on the Pro-ject and ATLP-120 turntables, I purchased 2 for each of my same TTs.
Simple, old-school, no frills design; it lies perfectly flat on the platter and becomes one with it. The music never sounded better. In my environment, it doesn't really attract dust as some others have experienced. I never play dirty records and I always keep the dust cover on when not in use. So, yeah. Excellent product!!
