Compressor Fails and Blows Fuses and Burns Up Relays

I wrote a review for this piece of junk and the internet dumped me. I'm not wasting anymore time on this piece of junk. I would not buy it. I've had over 12 failures with it over the past 15 months. Numerous fuses and relays destroy. I finally used a Bussman 40A circuit breaker to keep this from happening and wired it with #8 AWG CU. The compressor failed and I will not buy this unit ever again. I replace with a better manufacturer.

For the price this air horn system can't be beat. The hook up was a challenge for me not knowing much about electrical or how to hook up the pressure switch and solenoid but watching videos on YouTube gave me the info to finish hook up and I'm delighted I did. The tank is the perfect size with a powerful compressor. The Horns are extremely loud, but that's why I wanted them. I installed the tank and compressor (that I bolted on to a board) then anchored it in my truck toolbox, drilled and sleeved holes for the electrical and air hoses to go through the bottom of tool box with the triple air horns bolted under the tool box. Also added another air line for air to run a nail gun in the field and it works great. These Horns are on the higher mid range pitch so I purchased a second set that's at a lower range pitch and now have a GREAT TRAIN sound. They are easy to tie into your existing horn wire. Very pleased with the purchase. On a side note: If installed under a toolbox in the bed of a truck, they will be much louder because the sound is bouncing off all four bed liner panels. They are literally screaming to come out from under the tool box, just sayin'
Amazing setup for horn but my tank is defective and leaks on one of the welds.

I really love my horn setup. I got everything for Christmas from my wife and just got done doing a trial hookup. The horn is satisfyingly ear drum blowing but unfortunately my tank is defective as there's a leak in the weld (see picture) "” had that not been there it'd been a 5 star review! Don't have the box to return it anymore either. 😩😞

Pump blew up, rod exploded
This "Vixen" unit is honestly a horrible, cheap imitation

This thing is not worth your time. Mine came with damaged terminals on the pressure switch and a destroyed fuse housing. Regardless, I repaired it to see whether it was worth exchanging for another. The answer is NO. It won't build pressure beyond about 45psi. Forget about that 80--100 pressure switch, it won't ever come into play! The tank was already rusting under the paint. The compressor itself is small and takes some time even to build up 40psi. Do yourself a favor and buy a Viair unit. It will cost a bit more, but will be much more capable, 100% headache free, and you can trust it to work when you need it. This "Vixen" unit is honestly a horrible, cheap imitation.
