I purchased the umbrella because I needed a compact umbrella, which it is and serves its purpose. However, I live in a Windy City and have not used when it is windy and rainy. Hopefully the umbrella is also durable when it is windy.

Not only does this umbrella open when you push a button - it partially collapses when you push a button. I've never had an umbrella do that before. It has a small footprint but appears to be large enough to keep the rain off you - I haven't actually tried it in the rain yet.

I inadvertently parted somehow with my push-button umbrella; so when looking for a replacement and after looking at a few reviews decided on this item -- and I couldn't be happier! The mechanism on my old umbrella was so-so, especially the collapsing and stowing which wasnt the best. And although some reviews suggest it is cheaply made, be assured it is quite the opposite. This item is warrantied as well -- the manufacturer stands by its product! The only down side at least for me personally is the storage velveteen case which could be made out of mesh netting like my old one which allowed for ventilation and faster drying to the extent the umbrella could being in a folded state. But all in all, this is an outstanding value and a quality product.
