Very thick and comfortable and wide enough to allow you to roll around. Great for car camping and the like, but definitely not for backpacking as it is pretty large and heavy - even when packed (very wide).

I purchased this sleeping pad for a 7 day camping trip chaperoning 14 8th graders. I knew my backpacking Thermarest would not suffice the quality of sleep I need to survive each day. Plus we camped on the Olympic peninsula in Washington State with a forecast for rain. I am a back and side sleeper. Most air mattresses aren't comfortable to me on my side so I was looking for foam. This is a BPA free foam mattress that ROCKED!
It ships in large box. Once you take it out of the package I recommend letting it inflate all the way for a day or two for the foam to reach it's potential. It comes with two roll up straps and a carrying bag. Other reviewers said it was difficult to put back in but I found it quite easy. I watched a video on YouTube for the most efficient way to roll it up (folding it into fourths while kneeling on it, then close the release and roll it and open the air knobs at the very end). It's durable, soft, and best for car, or yellow bus :) camping. It kept me warm and dry during the rain too!

I bought two mattress, and will take them both out camping this weekend coming up. The instructions say to inflate them prior to the first use for at least 24 hours and I would agree. The are vacuum sealed out of the box and it take a bit for it to fully inflate. However, after that it only mine just a couple minutes to inflate. I plan to just open then up after we get the camp site set and then just before bed close down the valves for a restful night sleep.
Note: I am a bigger guy in weight and have yet touched the floor with my body once I am fully on the mattress.

Used in tent for one night so far. little wider than another mat we have which is nice. Put wool blanket under this pad and then sleeping bag directly on top of pad. Did not have issue with cold air coming from the bottom like I do when sleeping on an air mattress. It was very comfy, no issues at all with feeling the lumpy ground.
