You absolutely CAN NOT put this on a rat. I have two of them and the harness was so stiff and wide in the armpits that it didn't fit them right and then they just squeezed out through the head hole. The ones we bought are too small for our rabbit, so I can't tell you if it works for them, but my rats are pretty big and there was no way they were going to be able to get walked on this.
