The paper of the journal is thick, mostly smooth, and does not bleed. The description is accurate, even calligraphy pens do not bleed. Unlike other leather journals the pages are easy to turn and keep the book open. The only downside that brings this down to a four star is the tree design on the front. The images provided on amazon make it look as if the tree is significantly lighter than book itself, but it is too similar to the cover and does not stand out. This is an excellent quality journal better than previous leather bounds I have bought before. I highly recommend purchasing.

Beautiful very well made. The etching of the Tree Of Life makes this journal feel so rustic and inviting to share your thoughts on each cotton page. The tree of life symbol is fitting. I just bought this Journal for my Daughter-in-law as a birthday present. She absolutely loves it. The leather cover is soft and the texture is amazing. It even has a bit of "old book smell" to it, which will probably fade away, but is neat right now. The paper is amazing, just as the product description says. It was certainly a big hit with her. I was a little worried because she is such a techie, but she loves this as a place to keep special things she writes. Don't hesitate. This is a super-fine Journal. Both of us are very happy with this.
