Did some research, found out this is a clone engine to the blown up 13hp on my snowblower. Swapped it out with this 18hp, only took a couple easy modifications. What a beast! Works so well that when a friend was having problems with a firewood processor we swapped out his tired motor with one of these and a new lovejoy coupler. He runs it at half throttle now where it used to be right at the limiter.

I was impressed with the packaging of such a large item. I put oil in the crank case and a little gas in the fuel tank, gave it two pulls and it started right up. Not sure I have seen a motor like this run so smooth. I have a Kohler I put on a sawmill I built and got this one for another sawmill I am building. The Kohler is not as well balanced as this motor seems to be. I have not tried the electric start, however so far I am very impressed. Thank you!

This motor is quite for an 18 HP.

Description clearly states Recoil/electric start. I hit the switch for Starter and nothing happens. Called the toll free number Amazon has listed for customer support and the person who answered the phone could barely speak English and insisted the XP18HPE was recoil start only. I informed her she was wrong and that it was indeed electric start capable and also mentioned it had an electric starter attached. I was placed on hold for over 10 minutes and she informed me I would have to speak to the manufacturer. She put me on hold, tried transferring me, then informed me they are only open Monday through Friday. I will attempt to contact them and hopefully get some questions answered Monday. The accompanying manual is pretty much lame. No mention of electric start. My inspection can find no battery and no terminals to hook one up even if a separate battery is required of which there is absolutely no mention of anywhere. I think two shakes of a lambs tail and this turkey is headed back for a full refund. Amazon Product Support is absolutely worthless! Product description and information from both Amazon and DuroMax is beyond poor. Update: Duromax was super. They sent me pictured instructions on exactly what was needed to be done to incorporate a battery for the starter. They listened to my comments and then asked where I was planning on using the engine and then suggested I get the high altitude kit for the carburetor. 8,550 feet in altitude. Amazon may be lacking but DuroMax hits a home run.

Seems solid so far, and started first pull! Only complaint is that it showed up with some minor damage and was a week late. Don't trust the shipping dates! They didn't even ship until after the original due date.
