Heavy duty metal with rubber tires and it's cheap! Can't beat it! This is much better than those plastic rinky dink bikes you see at the stores AND it's a fantastic price. The only negatives are the steering "wheel" which is oddly shaped and the cracking noise it sometimes makes when you turn the wheel. The steering column could be longer. But I would buy this again in a heartbeat and I recommend it to everybody with a little one! If we need another I hope they have the purple in stock!
Cute but a bit unsafe

It's a great looking bike but the back two wheels keep loosening and coming off. The nail thing that goes in to hold it together is just terrible.

My son is 3 1/2 and has autism, so he is getting a bit of a late start learning to pedal a tricycle. He is in the 75th percentile for height. This tricycle is a great fit for him, and I am so happy it exists! The seat can even go back one more notch from where we have it now, so he even has some room to grow.
The trike is very sturdy and stable. I like the narrower seat on it because it is easier for my son to swing his leg over while getting on and off. The seat is 13 inches off the ground. It's perfect for my 3.5 year old son. My 2 year old daughter can sit on the trike and the balls of her feet touch the ground, and she can reach the pedals, but it's a bit of a stretch. I'd say it's appropriate for taller 2 year olds and up.
UPDATE: A year has gone by and my son is now 4, still loves his trike, it still fits him, and it's still in great condition. So we ordered one in purple for my daughter. They definitely have changed the paint formula for the body of the bike. It is a metallic reddish purple. The wheels and seat were the bright bluish purple like in the pictures and don't even match the body of the trike. It's incredibly irritating to look at. So I ordered another tricycle in blue with the intention of returning the purple trike. The blue trike didn't look right either! The body paint and wheels are the bright blue in the pictures, but the plastic parts (seat trim, handbars, and pedals) are all a strange, mismatched blue color. Maybe the color change was intended as an improvement on the design, but it definitely was not! I ended up harvesting the black plastic parts from the purple tricycle to make it look acceptable. Now I can't return the purple trike. If the green trike hadn't been such a godsend to my son, I'd be livid. HIGHBOUNCE NEEDS TO UPDATE THEIR ADVERTISING PHOTOS!

Bike looked great and assembly of other pieces was easy
EM✓ Verified Purchase•June 13, 2017
The front wheel was manufactured with one of the steering column alignment links backwards. It could not be assembled to the frame and had to be returned. The shaft has two "keyed" shapes which slide inside a plastic retainer on the pedal bar and then accept hardware to lock it in place. At assembly at the manufacturer they installed one backwards and it can't be turned around 180 degrees due to the press fit of the pedal onto the metal bar. Bike looked great and assembly of other pieces was easy. We were excited to use this today and then had to explain that it was made incorrectly to our little girl. Will be returning and buying a replacement which will hopefully have no defective parts.

A bit difficult to put together but worth it. Only major complaint is that the decals started peeling off within one month of only indoor use. So either paint the lettering on or don't use the decals all together (it comes with the decals already on, this was not an application error). Still a bit big for my small-sized 2.5 year old but she's growing into it quickly.
