Plywood would be softer to sit on. But it looks decent and it's cheap. I wouldn't recommend using it for a living room, this is more like an office couch.

If I could give less than one star I would. The sofa arrived with no damage to the shipping box but the upholstery has two holes in it. It wasn't the easiest to put together either. I agree with other reviews that say it is hard and uncomfortable....it's like sitting on a rock. Save yourself the hassle and buy something else.

The loveseat is not "Ultra Comfortable" as the title reads. The color is as it reads but I would not buy it again, it is so hard to sit on it! it feels like you are sitting on a hardboard. I checked inside the cushion and is some kind of hard foam. I red other reviews regarding this issue and thought maybe is not that bad, big mistake I wish I never got this loveseat!

I like overall looks but as far as comfort goes the seat is too stiff and the back cushions are not thick enough. If I would have known this I don't think I would have bought it.
