Did what I needed it to do!

Honestly? I used it to pull a tree top I cut out of a neighboring tree. When I cut the tree top it got hung up, so the safest way to get it down was to grapple it and pull it down with the tractor and a long rope- the tree top was about 30' long and about 10 - 12" across at the widest part- so translate to mean heavy, so I didn't want to be any where close to it when it came down!
Took me about three throws to get the hang of it, and hook the top. But once it was hooked it held tight.
Worked great for me! Don't know about climbing with it, I'm too old and fat for that!

THE CLAW IS GREAT THE LINE IS OK BUT WEARS FAST .. THE ATTACHMENT TO THE CLAW IS POOR .. TIED A FISHING KNOT AND WORKS GREAT
Hook is great, need thicker rope.

The hook itself is very sturdy and well put together. The only thing I have to sat negatively against the hook itself is sometimes it will begin to turn and collapse. If it begins to do so you can tighten it right back up and its good to go.
Now for the rope. The material is sturdy and is of great quality. However it is too thin to climb with. Even tying knots for grip, it was not thick enough. Now, the rope is great and very useful if you are grabbing things or tying stuff off. But for climbing I suggest at least a 20mm rope.
Overall a quality purchase especially for the price. However you will need to sacrifice some extra cash for proper climbing rope

Works well

Used this grapple and rope combo to assist in helping pull down a larger tree I cut with down, had a heavy lean towards the road and couldn't afford for it to fall in that direction. Threw it as high as I could get it in a secure place on the tree. Set my notch and cut until it was close enough to pull down. Started rocking the tree by pulling the rope (I'm doing this alone by the way) and once I heard it start to crack I pulled with all I had and it fell where I wanted it. This thing helped save my butt.
Works

I did not buy this to scale mountains. I bought it to help me pull logs out to the work site. I also pulled logs out to my work site. We did it this way because we could not get anything we currently own to the place we were working. We were moving logs between 10 and 15 inches in diameter about 9 feet long. It was hard work but we could move them with additional leverage the hooks provided. I will be using them to help get my block and tackle, where I want it later this summer. I hope they prove just as helpful.
