We keep these on all of our outside trailer tie points -- while our horses are now usually well-behaved when tied, the break-away makes sure they won't make a potentially-bad situation even worse. In the past, one of our horses would unexpectedly "freak out" at being tied, and broke her halter and left a rope burn on her face... while we've worked with her tremendously since then, this helps us know something like that won't happen again. :)

Saves a lot of money over breakaway halters. But don't use unless your horse already reliably ties - he'll figure this one out and pop it just to eat grass. NOT recommended for use at horse shows or out in the open, where the horse can run off and get hurt.
