I ordered these when my air conditioning was down for an extended time. I love them! They were helpful during my time of need and are still food for cooling off when coming in from outside. They are very pretty, and are rather fragile, but have held up well. Since I didn't need all of them, I shared them with my lady friends. They all loved them, declaring that they would be handy for hot flashes. I may keep some on hand so that I can share their old-fashioned beauty and elegance with more friends. I will always keep some around for myself.

I always have loved how pretty these fans are. I keep them EVERYWHERE! in my car, in my desk, in my lunch box, in my dance shoe bag, and several other places. I keep extra's. I used to buy the regular Japanese lacy ones up at the flea market for $1 each and get about a dozen at a time... I was using them and giving them to friends as the need arose.... not so bad because it was good for a quick cool down in a jif.... Then! I found the pretty ones with the sequins.... but they were $3 to $5 each and I got stingy with just giving those out so freely. So, I saved those for myself and for special birthday gift add-ons.
So, the other day, a friend of mine asked for one, and then another asked for one for her and her sister, and I thought I brought the japanese lace bag and told them to take what she wanted - and OOPS! They were my seqiun ones- with my favorite colors! Oh well, too late! I said not to worry - I'll just find some more up at the flea market. Then I thought - let's just check AMAZON! YESSSSS!!!!!!! And they are cheaper!!!!!! And! I can get all the colors!!!!!!
So - they last pretty good as long as you don't mess with the handle end too harshly. You might have to do some little repair work if you are rough with them... they are not very sturdy at the connection end, but if you are careful, they could last a good long time.... not too bad for just about a buck and a half! And... They are so pretty! you can match just about any outfit with a whole set. The only reason I don't give these 5 stars is because of the weakness in the fan joint.

Oh - and don't let some @$$ at the flea market lie to you and say his wife sewed all of those sequins on herself and that's why they are $5. JERK!

These were a nice price for 10 cloth fans (as opposed to paper). The fans are a nice size (so they really work to cool one when using them), and the colors and patterns are very pretty. The set of 10 included a nice assortment of different floral patterns. I only have two little beefs. First, some of the fans were hard to open. A little extra glue apparently got on them and some of the folds were stuck together and had to be (carefully) pulled apart - but there was no damage done. The second thing is the sticks are plastic. Even though the gold pattern stamped on them is pretty nice, they still look a little cheesy. But for $1.30 per fan, I'll live with it.

I purchased these fans as a party gift for my 9yr old daughter's birthday. While these are gorgeous to the eye, they were all broken by the time the party was over. I could have just as easily purchased the cheaper, paper fans and had the same if not better outcome.

As May passes by, the heat and humidity is ON in Central Florida. I use these pretty fans all summer long (which is May through October here) to keep cool. I use one, especially, while waiting for the bus on humid mornings/afternoons and, sometimes, when I am on the bus. (A crowded bus with weak air conditioning can get awfully stuffy.) These fans cool and look beautiful all at the same time. I am surprised that other women don't use them, actually! The price is right, too, and one can always hand one to perspiring friend or stranger.
