This kit is LOADED .... endless possibilities ... Great for beginners to experiment with and learn about electronics and how it all works........
Very slick kit but you need to go to YouTube university if you're a beginner

I am a novice with adruino however in fairness I work with plcs and high end motion control so I have a basic understanding of what would be needed to get a motor to function.

When you get the kit it has the uno board, the stepper drivers from Texas instruments with heat sinks, as well as the cnc shield controller and zero instructions....

So my guess is this kit is aimed at the hobbyist or kids with little experience and if that's the case you need to watch several videos as boring as that sounds to get enough info to make this successful for yourself at many wemt too fast over the software or issues with tuning the drivers.

Anyway I'm definitely going to buy more to build a few different things for work that I've wanted to do but couldn't justify thousands of dollars to pull it off so for under 100 bucks it's a no Brainerd.

I'm not going to give a detailed explanation of how to program this etc but after a little agrivation I will try to spare you the same.

1. Make sure you get the power supply polarity correct. You swap wires the things junk instantly I've read didn't want to test the theory..

2. Download adriuno and then go to github and download the grbl files. Extract them and then upload them into the uno. Watch several videos until you can see all the steps before just doing it as many videos are missing steps.

3. After you've flashed the uno assemble the cnc shield and add the driver boards. NEVER ADD A DRIVER BOARD AND NOT HAVE A MOTOR. NO MOTOR NO DRIVER BOARD. And match the En pin on driver to socket on shield board if you screw up backwards it's junk.

4. Turn down the potentiometer all the way down plenty of videos on how to adjust. They cone way to high and people claim they will fry.

5. DOWNLOAD cncjs gcode sender to your computer
Open it and it will find your uno. Then press say x or y or z arrows and stuff should move.

6. Learn g code or get a cad cam program and you're in business

The media could not be loaded. Sturdy product.
Make sure you use an external power supply with 12-36 volts. The blue connectors on the grbl shield make that easy to set up. If you are prepared, then this is basically plug and play. Software-wise, you first need a hex code (quick to google), and then use x-loader to flash it to the arduino/grbl shield. Then you can use universal gcode sender to run your files.

Sub-100$ cnc machine here I come! Combined with a cheap x-y table, and a power supply, I have everything I need.

This is one of the more professional gadgets I own. What I mean is that I am used to building with plastic parts for temporary fun projects. And it has to be. Any wiggling in your equipment translates to error in your output. With these sturdy parts, This will be one project I will get lots of use out of.

I wasn't sure of everything I needed and this kit was a good start in building a DIY CNC machine. This kit contains all the motors and controller to build a CNC machine. This kit doesn't contain a separate power supply, a way to convert the rotation of the motors to linear axis movements (belts and gears or threaded rods are usually used), and something to either cut, etch, or draw on a surface (I used a laser) to complete a DIY CNC project.

Overall I didn't run into any problems with this kit. Loading the control software (GRBL) onto the arduino or figuring out where things needed to be plugged in. I used GRBL 1.1 and found where to plug things in at by just looking at the labels on the board.
Not bad, not great....

1 dead motor driver on arrival, I dont know how to contact seller to get a replacement. Thankfully there is 4 so I had enough for my 3 steppers. Ad does say that it includes 2x end stops for each axis when it only comes with one. Arduino, shield, steppers, and 3 of 4 drivers work so that's a plus I guess. Would really like everything working out of the box and an accurate description though...
