Wonderful Bluetooth Trackers at Great Value, Finally
Daniel Vincent✓ Verified Purchase•August 16, 2023
I originally bought these to place in goodie bags at a Christmas party. I ended up with one left and so decided to use it. I had a Tile brand tracker on my keys that was due for replacement. Tile brand trackers require the purchase of a brand new unit when the battery dies. This was my second Tile in 18 months and I felt it was such a ridiculous waste. I was pleased to find the TrackR Pixel had a replaceable watch battery. I replaced my Tile with the TrackR Pixel.
I wasn't sure what to expect since the reviews here vary wildly. The TrackR was easy to setup via the app. The configuration was quick and straightforward. My TrackR worked great as a Bluetooth tracker and is fairly priced. I decided to go ahead and get more TrackR Pixels for our remotes and tablets. With kids around, these items get lost around the house often. The TrackR securely sticks using the provided 3M double sided adhesive pad. They are also completely and easily removable. These Bluetooth TrackRs work perfectly for this scenario and we are no longer spending time searching for devices all the time. I also decided to add another to my work bag and some other items. There are straightforward settings in the app to give you a few different behaviors depending on the tracking needs of that specific unit. For Example, I have my work bag TrackR configured to aleart me should I leave it or my phone behind. There are also options for crowd locate but I haven't had to rely on that yet.
The app also allows you to share your TrackRs with other accounts. This is nice so others at home can locate without me.
I have 10 TrackRs all configured on the same/account phone. I am not sure if I am just lucky but I have had no trouble with setup or use. I have replaced the battery on some. Battery replacement is no issue even if you have it attached to something else. The top twists to unlock and comes off revealing the battery. You may need something to add friction to your finger to make it easier to twist the top. Length of battery life is the only concern I have left. A couple of mine needed battery replacement within 2-3 months. This initially made me worry but I got one order of these on clearance and it appeared they may have sat in stock for several months allowing the battery to deplete. I replaced the batteries and they are still showing full over 2 months later.
I am very happy with these trackers and plan to stick with TrackR brand. They offer great value and don't have to be thrown away each year like with some overpriced other brands. They also meet my needs perfectly. I think some reviewers don't completely understand the nature and useage of low power Bluetooth trackers and expect something different. I do have full GPS cellular trackers for other situations. While much more expensive, I think many people need that type of a tracker for their purposes and might be want to research.

Huge Time Saver

These things have saved me a life time of looking for the stuff I always lose: keys, pagers, wallets, backpack, pistols, Bluetooth ear-buds. For example, I recently lost my earbuds thinking they were at home. I went to the Gym and notice the tracker app showed they were nearby. I pressed the locate button and the tracker on the buds started chirping. The gym lady dug them out of lost and found and I was reunited. it does help that honest people turn things like that in. These trackers use Bluetooth to connect to your phone. When you phone is connected, using GPS mapping it makes a note when they last connected so if for example your wallet falls out of your pocket at the movie theater, you can see where they last connected by looking at the app. If you have separation alerts on, once you walked out of Bluetooth range of your wallet, it would alert you to that. Another thing these do is there is a little button on the tracker that you can press and if your phone is in Bluetooth range, it will play a sound to help you locate your phone.
Now the not so good. Battery life is not long. Be aware that these are creating a Bluetooth connection to your phone so battery drain happens. The durability is not great. Part of the appeal of these is to make a chirping sound when you press the locate button. The lights will flash, however, no chirp. I think me banging it around caused the chirper to go bad. I gave my daughter one for her school backpack and when she came home one weekend, it was in pieces.
WHAT THIS DOES NOT DO!!! Don't think that you can track your lost dog or cat by attaching one of these to it's collar. It is not a GPS tracker. Also, don't get too hopeful if you have something stolen and you think you can go get your stuff back. There is a crowd sourcing feature but that depends on the tracker passing close enough to another trackR user that has crowdsourcing turned on and the thief hasn't pulled the tracker off.
Right now, these have saved me a lot of searching time, frustration and worry so changing the batteries frequently is a good trade-off. Amazon does sell a blister pack of 10 Chinese made batteries for relatively cheap.

Very helpful product with some reservations.

First of all, let me state that this is my first tracking device so I cannot compare to any others. All may have similar issues but I cannot comment on that. My phone is a Samsung Note 5, 2 years old. That said:
First, the really good: Customer Service. They are instantly responsive, 24/7 via chat, and when asked, send a transcript of your chat to your email if you want to save it for future reference.
Second, the good, but not wonderful. I really need this kind of thing because I misplace things around the house frequently. When TrackR works, it works great. When I first set it up about a week ago, I used one TrackR. Perfect. Next day I connected 4 other items and it didn't work at all. The app would show on the map where the item was last known to be, but couldn't connect even if it was right next to me. Customer service (via chat) gave me the steps to unpair and reset all the TrackRs - a bit of a pain, but it worked well, for a while. Within a day, same problem. I then tried to check the status of the connection with my phone's bluetooth, and found I was no longer paired. So I turned off bluetooth, then back on to search, and connections were restored. So far, so good.
Distance is not so good but is most likely a function of bluetooth being blocked by structures within the house. Even tho I wish my TrackR would connect and ping the device from anywhere, it is still extremely useful even if I need to walk around the house a little bit. That's far better than not being able to find the darn wallet, for example, only because it is hidden under a stack of papers.
I also got a low battery warning today for one of my TrackRs which I have in my wallet. It's only been there for a few days, so if it is truly a low battery then that's not a good sign. If there is an issue with the battery next to the magnetic strips on credit cards and the like, then it's not going to be a good solution for the wallet.
Battery replacement: great that you can do it, but the video they show is a little misleading. I have dry skin and could not generate enough friction to open the battery. I solved the problem with a small piece of masking tape to grab the back of the TrackR to open it. I would also suggest that you should use a magic marker and put a mark on the top of the back before you open it because it must go on in exactly the same position or it won't close and latch properly, and the manufacturing marks on the plastic are too subtle to see (at least for an older guy like me) without a magnifying glass. It was really frustrating until I took those steps. The video makes it look like a breeze but only if your hands are sticky enough to create the needed friction and only if you reinstall the back EXACTLY the way it was. Even tho this sounds obvious, the video does not indicate the need to do so. This is not a threaded connection, but rather small tabs that fit in a slot and then twist about 1/8 turn to lock. Very easy IF you get the tiny tabs in the tiny slots. (I suspect when I was younger and had my 20/15 vision this would not have been an issue.

Save your sanity when your wife misplaces her keys at work.

After my wife misplaced her keys at work & I had to bring her the spare keys so she could get home, she looked at me and said, "Ok, your such a tech geek & gadget freak, find me something so I can find my keys when I misplace them". With those marching orders I started searching the web for such a device. There are quite a few out there and it quickly became apparent that Tile-Mate & TrackR were the best available. In doing further research what sold me on the TrackR is the replaceable battery. I didn't like the idea of basically having to buy the device again after a year because you can't change a 50 cent battery.
I bought the TrackR Pixel, it arrived very quickly and was even smaller than I imagined it would be. I downloaded the app to my iPhone & connected the device within seconds. Worked like a charm! The only glitch I ran into was that I installed it on my iPhone for testing then tried to pair it to my wife's iPhone. It just wouldn't pair. TrackR has 24/7 chat support & I started a chat session and they told me that in order to change the Pixel from one phone to another I need to pop the battery out to do a "hard reset". The tech support agent recommended that I take some scotch tape wound backwards onto my fingers so that I could get a grip to get the battery cover off. What an ingenious idea! Removed the battery, replaced the battery and it paired within seconds. My wife likes the way the app works. Clean, simple and if this keeps me from having to do an hour round trip drive to her work to bring her the spare keys this little device is worth it and then some!
There are two other cool parts about the TrackR that I didn't find out about until after I bought it, TrackR will send you a new battery free of charge. You don't even have to pay the shipping. The 24/7 chat support is superb. I can't say for certain but I believe the support is US based. The colloquialisms used by the agent were American and the chat was very personable, not the scripts that are usually used. I do a lot of chat support in my work and TrackR is one of the best.
All in all, Well done TrackR!

Purchased an 8 pack. Gave a few away to friends. The first one that was connected to blue tooth the battery died in 2 days. I did connect another one and after it paired the app said that battery was critically low. Luckily I ordered batteries after the first one said it was low. They do replace a battery once it fails but it says it is FREE but don't tell you how much shipping and handling is until you put your CC information. I didn't get that far. I need to know up front how much it will cost. Then I couldn't empty the cart. So now I have 3 batteries in my cart and can't edit the cart. I can't change the quantity nor empty my cart. Seems like a bug in the software.
The Pixel says it is loud. I disagree with that. It's NOT loud. If it was in a pocket of ones clothes I'm not sure you would be able to find it.
I'm kind of disappointed with the battery ordering and also disappointed how "loud" it is. At least could see where it is on the map if i every lose them. Also if you have left it when you are away from home, you could ask the Pixel community to find. Haven't used that yet and hope that I never do!
I watched a review on You Tune and was convinced that the Pixel was the one to buy. This is the only Bluetooth tracker that I have so can't compare with anything else.
Replacing the battery is also a little cumbersome. Kind of difficult twisting the back off to replace the battery but you kind of have to expect it with the device being so small.
