Yes... I was skeptical regarding my friend's ravings regarding the Gravity Defyer Shoes.
But, having an increasingly painful R knee and occasional lower back problems I went out on a limb
and bought a pair of these Ion model gravity defyer shoes. They arrived quickly and well packaged and indeed included the free Orthotics and added cushion padding. They also included very good instructions for starting out with the shoes asking clients to ease into the orthotic by wearing them for a short time at first, then longer periods while breaking them in. I personally did not have to do that and found them very comfortable on my 1st wearing (I inserted the Orthotic and pad right off the bat).

My friend that recommended them tells me many of his UPS drivers wear them throughout the day for comfort and decreased knee, ankle, or back pain so I'm hoping for the same benefits...but so far so good.

The only caveat I might put forward is that these shoes (with orthotic & pad inserted) are somewhat higher off the ground than a regular tennis or athletic shoe. So they actually make you about an inch taller than you might be otherwise with regular shoes, but also it's important to properly "Lift your Feet" while walking as they may tend to catch you up a little, esp if you are walking on heavy carpet flooring!
So, if you are used to just "shuffling along" these shoes actually encourage you to lift your feet properly while walking in general. But again, they are very comfortable as I took them on a 2 1/2 mile walk in the park as soon as I got them without any problems at all.

Most of the negative reviews were based upon the product wearing out to soon. Six months later the shoes seem to have no wear and tear. And they still work fine ankle and knee pain are still much better. The review below was written about one month after purchase.

These shoes are miraculous. I have had pain in my left knee and right hip for some years from old football injuries. Also In the last few years I've had rather severe ankle pain from fallen arches. I've had high arches all my life but I'm now 73 and muscles weaken. This condition put stress on my ankles as the foot turns in as I step putting pressure on the ankle. I've tried $500 custom insoles, they help with the ankle but not the knee and hip. The custom insoles wear out in about a year.
So much for my problems.
My assessment, after wearing these shoes for about two weeks the ankle pain and knee and hip pain are significantly reduced. I think much of the reduction is from the soft impact of the heal of the shoe when stepping. Also the heal does rock a bit when I put the full weight on thus my ankles take a natural position at full weight. This takes a bit of getting used to when walking but once you've got the action it works OK. Bottom line I used to go up stairs one leg up then drag the other. I would need to switch legs depending on which hurt the most. Now I take stairs one leg up then the other no problem. Also due to ankle pain I used to require a secure hold on the hand rail as I was unstable. These shoes have not eliminated all the aches and pains of my 73 year old body, but they have greatly improved my mobility. I highly recommend this shoes for any one with issues such as I have.
Most of the negative reviews were related to the shoe falling apart to soon. I've had the shoes about two months now and they look as good as new.

At first I found the heel a bit on the high side, but after some time walking in them, that's a part of the shoe that stands out the most. Each step seems to launch to the next step with a spring rebound and lands with great arch and heel support. Only draw back is the back of the shoe where the heel loop is. The material could be made more stiff. The back tends to curl into your heel when you put them on. I have to use a shoe horn because of it. But still 5 stars.

I Had to get a second pair of these!. I wore my regular tennis shoes after using my 1st pair of these G-Defy Ion for some time and a few steps later, I wish I had my Gravity Defyer Men's G-Defy Ion Pain Relief Shoes to change back to.. These are simply the most comfortable shoes I've worn. Once it is broke in....it has amazing padding, support, spring landing and re-bounce..... and, well...a zero g feel. I didn't feel the shoe some of the time. I don't have any pain to resolve, I only wanted a really comfortable shoe. And these are it!

I can't imagine giving a negative review on these shoes! I am wearing the mens 8-1/2. I followed the directions and wore them for an hour the 1st day, I thought...these aren't going to work for me . Day 2 put them on for an hour and my feet were so happy! I have worn them every day, all day since. I have so much less pain in all parts of my feet. My orthotics fit in them great. After a few weeks of full time wear I am able to go for walks again!!! I mean a comfortable reasonably full strided walk! As these shoes realigned my feet, my ankles, knees and hips ,along with rib and back pain has diminished greatly! Plenty of room in the toe box too!
Please note that I have arthritis all over the place, my feet have fallen apart with all the things, plantar fasciitis, heel spurs,bone on bone arthritis ect. My spine and hips are arthritic...all the fun stuff. I am so incredibly grateful to have found these shoes! Total game changer for me! I am a Gma who no longer scuffles along! I bought these for my Son's BIG feet. He absolutely loves them. And the fit was perfect!
