A few months ago, I started taking black cumin seed oil for its health benefits. I feel that I have received at least some of its proclaimed benefits. Among other things, my chronically low neutrophil count has normalized.) I wanted to try the whole seed and so I purchased this brand. It is very good, high quality and clean--organic too. I heat it in a low oven for about 15 minutes, until it reaches about 50 degrees centigrade, grind it in my coffee grinder, mix it with manuka honey (approximately one cup of seeds to one third of a cup of honey) and spread it on toast. If you keep the mixture in the fridge, you will have to warm it a little in order to be able to spread it. Delicious! I also put a little ground cumin seed (without the honey) in my coffee filter with the coffee. It adds a distinctive flavor, which I like very much.

I do not know whether black cumin seed should be heated before being consumed. Published articles differ on this, but the weight of the evidence seems to me to say that they should be heated, but not too much Fifty degrees centigrade, or 122F, seems to be the sweet spot.
