I got this for my son for his first dance. Homecoming. He wanted to match his girlfriend's dress, but did not want to "look like a butler". He wanted a semi formal look. In our town it is very common for young men to wear jeans and dress shirts with cowboy boots, but my son cannot stand wearing jeans and doesn't own boots. This vest is so great. It looks great on a hanger and so handsome on! He loved the way it looked and felt, and didn't think he looked like a butler. The color match was perfect, and we paired it with a tie of the same shade of olive green as the outer layer.
The only complaint was that the adjustment strap in the back did not stay once tightened. We had to put a flat knot into it to keep it from loosening up as the night went on.
