OK, so I took a chance on this seller as I had never heard of them before.
With that being said I purchased this overflow as a replacement for my DIY setup that was a little less than dependable. I have it on a 55 gallon Fresh Water community tank running into a 13 gallon sump with a 210 gph return.
So far it is working like a charm... as long as the pump is pumping it is handling the flow rate easily. Shortly after the flow stops, the unit airlocks and stops draining as it should at the level it is set at. If this is due to a power failure and the power comes back on there could be a flooding issue. The seller recommends a powerhead (see below) to correct this. It's well built and shipped nicely protected with foam padding and shrink wrap. The intake side has a nice screen to prevent small fish from getting trapped inside the unit.
The seller is very responsive to questions...that's a plus. The unit works as it should....plus #2. It's also dead quiet....plus #3. The unit is advertised as being able to be hooked up to a powerhead to prevent airlock (it does) - plus #4. Clear acrylic and a very low profile make it almost invisible on top of my tank and provides a clear view inside for cleaning - plus #5.
All in all very happy with the unit.
