This blind solved several problems for me. Normal blinds collect dust easily and don't block out enough light. Also, one of my dogs was chewing curtains, but not this one because it doesn't hang low. The first one I ordered was a little too big for inside mount, but I was able to make it work for outside mount (barely). I liked it so much I decided to redo all of my window treatments. I decided on outside mount with a 3-4 in longer than inside measurement of window. The blind blocks most, but not all, of the light and leaves about about half the window trim visible (except for the top which is completely covered by the outside mount). The company was very helpful on all three of my orders. They emailed and even texted from China shortly after the order to make sure I had the right size exactly. If you tell them the inside length of the window, they can custom cut it for inside mount; however, I decided to stick with outside mount. They want to get the size right because it's not feasible to send it back. The instructions weren't that great, but I didn't find it hard to mount by myself anyway. You just need a ladder, a measuring tape, a pencil, a drill and a little knowledge about finding studs and/or using dry wall anchors/screws. After installing a couple, I didn't even need the measuring tape anymore. Also, all three of my orders arrived well before the end of the expected range I was given. Finally, the colors on the website are a little brighter than in reality; the beige for example is not quite as yellow as it appears online. In my third order, the instructions had improved some and it contained a key ring with sample swatches of every color. Overall, I love the product and was very happy with the service from Passenger Pigeon :)

I got one blackout shade from this company for my bedroom window which gets tremendous light, which is not always welcome every single morning. I had such a good experience with this company. They texted me and I was able to give them the exact measurements of my window. I hired someone from TaskRabbit to help me install this shade when it arrived. I highly recommend working with Passenger Pigeon to get your shades. It felt like the person who was texting me was from another country, probably Eastern Europe, and the shade itself came from China. So to get this level of bespoke manufacturing through Amazon, I am really impressed.

Working with Passenger Pigeon on our order and their product was phenomenal!! We received an email from them letting us know that they received our order and asked how we would be mounting the product to help ensure that we received the proper width shades. They also worked with us and were able to customize the width of our shades to add 1/4" to the width of our original shades ordered. Then, we waited for them to be manufactured and shipped. When we received them a couple of weeks later, they were a perfect fit and blacked out our media room completely!! They were easy to install with a pencil to mark placement, a drill for the pilot holes and a phillips head screwdriver to install. Installation took about 15 minutes total for 3 shades. I would highly recommend their products to anyone needing a high quality, black-out roller shade.

First off, AMZING CUSTOMER SERVICE. I was contacted via text (my favorite) within 12hrs of purchasing to make sure I measured everything correctly. The woman was very pleasant and quick to respond. I wish every product/service had this level of care and attention. Great start!

Secondly, the shade arrived sooner than expected. Like 10+ days sooner. Not sure how that happened, but wow!

On a scale of 1-10 on difficulty to install, I would say 3. Leveling and centering is the hardest part. But hey that's not Passenger Pigeons fault lol. Anyone who has a set of tools from the dollar store is gonna have a hard time with any project. I measured and installed mine for an outside mount, therefore the hardware is exposed and isn't very attractive. However I plan to build a bow around the top of the shade. This will increase the minimalist aesthetic

There are a couple parts that are inexpensive plastic like the pearl/beaded chain to raise/lower but that could be easily replaced if it's a bother. Personally I don't mind it, but I might replace it. I did have to make some adjustments to the chain stop mechanism. Not a problem but it could pose an issue for the less handy people. The shade sits very close to wall eliminating almost all light. The black material blocks all the light, looks and feels like quality stuff.

All in all I think it's a sexy, simple, minimalist shade. The hardware does show and when I fully extended the shade one staple was exposed. I was able to press it back in. I'm not a window treatment expert, but I know good craftsmanship when I see it. These shades are made to order, sold at a good price and well crafted. My wife and I wanted to test one out before we ordered for our entire home. We are thrilled with the result and look forward to making another perchase of 7 more.

Great customer service! Company contacted me after purchase to clarify EXACT measurements, which is important. After carefully measuring the windows, I sent measurements and they made the custom blind. I just ordered 3 more to match. I got the white color. The front is a snowy white, the backside is slightly creamier, which actually matches my wall color very well, so I installed with the back side front, which is how I wanted to install anyway due to my windows having a middle divider. It looks great, provides insulation, and also blocks light very well.
