Was a great product once...

I have an original version of this pot from the early 2000s. It's nearly 15+ years old. I loved this pot so much that I wanted to buy another to replace the one I have since it's showing it's age. I saw it on sale and now in different colors. I placed an order for the red one. It got here yesterday. It's packed up and back in the box ready to go back via UPS tomorrow. Why?
1 - the pot is actually a bit smaller than the original.
2 - Everything is thinner - the pot walls and the lid. It appears to be very cheaply made.
3 - The lid doesn't fit right - you can only put it on one way.
4 - The holes in the handles are smaller and make it hard to handle - not good with a pot of just boiled water.
I really wanted to like this pot - but I think Bialetti licensed it to another manufacturer, who cheaped out on the materials.
The design is still great - this execution of it, not so much.

Almost perfect except for one flaw...

I would have given this 5 stars (great color) except the one I received had a lid that wouldn't lock. I watched a few videos to confirm how it should function, and mine just never locked with a simple twist as shown on the videos.
On further examination, I found the grooves on the lid which were supposed to 'lock' it were too wide. To fix this, I wrapped the lid in a kitchen towel (to protect scratching the pretty purple paint) and used a pair of pliers to make the gap smaller. I figured this was far easier than going through the return process.
I now have a fully functional pasta pot.

I purchased this pot in red from Costco maybe 8 years ago. It was a life changer to have the pot and strainer in one. I used it many times each week and would often use it to boil potatoes then drain then mash in the same pot. I used a metal press to mash the potatoes and over time that caused some scratching to the non stick coating. So I went onto Amazon one day and was thrilled to find the same pot all these years later at a lower price than I paid originally and in such a great assortment of colors. I ordered in purple and purchased direct from Amazon as the seller. It arrived in 2 days and since that order date in April I have used it nearly every day but now I no longer use any metal utensils. A few days ago the lid lock stopped working. This is an important feature because it means you can just use pot holders and grip the handles when draining so you don't burn yourself when the water drains. I called Amazon Customer Service and explained the issue. I have only had this pot 3 1/2 months and the locking lid was no longer locking. 2 minutes later customer service emailed me a return label to send it back and shipped me a replacement out with next day shipping. That is excellent customer service and of course I was thrilled because I love the convenience of this pot!
Love it! Awesome pot!

This is my second one in 6 years! I first found this at Fry's, and love it! Love that it locks, its awesome! There is a little black cylinder part that holds the lid and keeps the handle from twisting and after 4-5 years it broke off on my first one, thankfully I found it, not in my food! I was sad never seeing it again, but good old Amazon!! Had to get it replaced because the one I just got, didn't lock. Exchanged it with no issues and fast!
Very disappointing

I was so excited to get this. I've had a similar pot for the last 12 years lol and I loved it but it ran its course... couldn't wait to have a brand new one. Then after a delay in shipping (not the sellers fault but ups ) it "finally" arrived.... and the lid doesn't even fit the pot. It's way too big and impossible to lock on. I was going to try to exchange but only a refund option is available. Guess I'll have to spend a little more to get a product that's actually able to do what it says.
