These are really good quality, not like your ordinary wooden spoon set. The wood is much more dense and the finish is smoother so that they are more durable and easy to wash and get clean. I have a lot of black items in my kitchen and these go really well with my color scheme. I got the matching 7-piece set as well and am really happy with the purchases.

Very Sturdy Multi-Use Utensils

These are nice sturdy tools, made from pakkawood, which is basically a compressed combination of wood and phenolic resin that is then carved like wood. The tools are stiff, and hard like wooden tools, but less susceptible to damage from heat and water.
I use these for scrambling eggs, tossing salads, and anything where I would use a spatula, or a spoon - with the exception of tasting soup and things like that, as they won't really hold thin liquids. They are great for stirring thicker batters, but I haven't tried them with bread dough, as I use a dough whisk for that.
I have these in both the beechwood and rainbow colors, and I prefer the beechwood, it is a dark ash colored wood, and looks more natural than the rainbow (obviously) one piece as a glint of green in it in one spot.
I took off one star as they are a little thick at the front, so they don't do a good job at flipping fried eggs, they tend to push them around as they are too thick to get under the edge of the egg.
They haven't scratched my Le Creuset or Chantal cookware, and they feel like they will hold up for a long time.

Blue color leaked into food! First part of description claims this will not happen! I purchased these for my wife as she has been raving about spurtles since she saw them a year ago. I thought $25 was a little high, but figured she would love these in her favorite color. She loved them instantly until they died the rice she was cooking blue. First dish she used them in after hand washing. Very disappointed.
